Ordering Magic bands

I've got my hotel reservation and tickets linked to My Disney Experience for our May trip. How do I order magic bands?

Disney no longer includes these. Any band you have from previous trip can be used. I have heard the standard one color bands can be purchased from Disney for $5 or pay more, up to $30+ for special designs. Or use phone app. I believe you can order them with the My Disney Experience app. Need the app anyway these days for almost anything at WDW.

On the MDE website, go to My Magic Bands and Cards, and you should be able to order MBs (or decline them for people who have old ones and don't want new). The solid color ones cost $5 each and are offered in many more colors than before, or you can buy one with a design (cost varies depending on the design). Be aware that you have to order MBs for everyone in your party at the same time; you can't order one for one member of your party and then place an order another day for others in your party.

This is our first time to WDW since magic bands were started. In the My Disney Experience, it's not giving me the option. This is the message I have next to my hotel reservation "Your MagicBand Order Status Is Currently Unavailable"
Then below that it shows my tickets and park reservations. Am I missing something

I see the same message for my upcoming April trip. Oddly enough I can order magic bands for my September trip, just not my April one. Guess I'll be giving them a call!

That MagicBand ordering page is prone to flukiness and unexplained behavior, especially lately based on various reports around here. Give it a day or so and try back every once in awhile, it may clear up on it’s own

Make sure to use the private browsing version of whatever browser you are using (eg, Chrome Incognito).

Yesterday I booked Contemporary for May 2022 and I have the same message showing. Also when I look at My Magic Bands page it shows a card associated with my account instead of the option to get a Magic Band at a discount.

I made a reservation this evening and I am seeing the same message. Will try again tomorrow and if I figure out a solution, I will post it here

So, quick update. This morning, I called the disney internet help desk. Was on hold for about a half hour and once I got through, I explained the situation, the cast member asked a few questions to locate my account, ad five minutes later she asked me to log in again. Not sure what she did, but now I am able to order bands for the upcoming trip. So you may want to try that

I don't have a magic band page. Where Would that be?

On my computer, I go to My Disney Experience, when you hover your mouse over the My Disney Experience, a menu drops down and under my Profile pic is "My Plans" and then "My MagicBands and Cards". In the app, if you select the three little lines in the lower right corner, then select "My Profile" (right under the Chat with Us box) and then it will show up on the next page just under Memberships & Passes it will say "MagicBands & Cards".

me either...it shows me a "card" associated with the account and doesn't allow me to buy a magicband...My trip isn't until 2022 so I'm hoping it fixes itself before then.

I was finally able to order my bands thanks to a couple of great cast member. I called the reservation # and was on hold for about an hour. The cast member there was very nice and said you would have the internet help desk take care of it. She said the wait for it was 75 minutes so she took my phone number and put me in the que. When the internet help desked called me back, she was able to fix things real fast and stayed on the line until my order went through.

Thanks for the update. I'll probably have to make a call too at some point but I have over a year so maybe they'll fix the issue on their own by then.

The card is the new default instead of a free magic band. Retro move back to the old park admission plastic card. The Mod who posted above is absolutely right. My Disney Experience is beyond glitchy. Try another web browser eg Chrome or Firefox. Try Chrome incognito. Also try at an off peak time like after 9pm or before 7am. MDE has been a problem child since birth.

Does anyone know more about "Starting in 2021, we plan to unveil an innovative new offering as part of the My Disney Experience app that will bring features of a MagicBand to your smart devices."? Wondering if I should purchase magic bands for our June trip, or wait a bit and see if there will be an alternative added to the MDE app...

There has been news and rumors around a new system called Genie

I think Genie intends to remove any need for MagicBands. We have a trip planned for Sept and I decided to get a $5 plain MB just in case, and finally now there's so many solid colors to choose from
