ordering cake

From where? At a Disney restaurant, a park, your resort? We need more information.

will be staying @ AoA & Park hopping only a breakfast ADR @Whispering canyon
Happy birthday to whoever is celebrating. But do you want the cake at your resort or do you want it served at a meal? Probably the easiest thing is to use Instacart and order a cake to be delivered to AoA from Publix. You might be able to get one from the food court at AoA, you would have to ask a CM there or call Disney to see about options to order one in advance.

There is an Official Cake Chatter thread pinned to the top of the restaurants board. It is becoming more and more difficult (and expensive!) to order a custom made cake at DisneyWorld, but there are also celebration cakes available at all restaurants. The info on those is also on the Cake Chatter thread.

A few years ago, I found it incredibly difficult to get a cake on property - and I was willing to pay Disney prices. It was proving more trouble than it was worth.

We were celebrating my parents' anniversary at a restaurant over in Disney Springs (back when it was still Pleasure Island) and had already asked about bringing a cake in, intending to buy it from Disney...it was all approved. We ended up doing exactly as another poster suggested - going to Publix and ordering a cake there. Not only did they provide us with a beautiful cake, they gave us a plastic cake cutter and offered to provide plates/forks.

Whispering Canyon is included in the restaurants that allow you to add on a Disney celebration cake to meals. They're Mickey shaped and are pretty cute. If you want to just add that onto your meal there, it's very simple to do so.

does the food court usually have the cakes @ AoA?

I ordered my wife a birthday cake last year. It was from the Contemporary bakery. They delivered it to Whispering Canyon Cafe and the price of the cake was added to our dinner bill. I found this site very helpful https://disneytravelbabble.com/how-to/order-cake/

That site is written by the same poster who keeps the cake ordering thread mentioned above. It’s word for word copy & pasted.

During Covid when so many cast members were laid off, some started cottage industry home bakeries. These are still around, but it takes some searching. Most do beautiful work, are more affordable than a Disney custom cake (IF you can get one... Disney seems to be actively phasing this out), and they will deliver to your resort (not sure about delivery to restaurants). There's a facebook group, Ears to Each Other, that lists some of these independent bakers. I've used Olivia's Kitchen and Cheat Day Factory and been happy with both.

ohw do i order the birthday cake? info tips ideas?
I ordered a cake for our wedding anniversary (got married at WDW). We were having dinner at Narcoossee's and the cake would be there. Narcoosee's is/was one of the restaurants that made it easier to order. I think The California at the Contemporary is too. It was $130-$140 and tasted awful. When it came to the table, the waiter could hardly get a knife into it. It tasted stale. We each took a slice, didn't finish it and threw out the rest. Can't believe I threw out a $130 cake. I think most restaurants offer the mickey dome cakes. Amorette's in Disney Springs has cakes. I find they look beautiful but doesn't taste as good as they should. I will add that ordering the cake was a big hassle. It was a loop of phone calls and messages to find the right person.
