I remember reading somewhere that you can get GF fried chicken at 50’s prime time if you call 24 hours in advance. The menu on Disney.com only lists fried chicken for nut allergies, not gluten. How exactly do you order that? Is the Disney.com menu accurate?

Special Dietary Needs and Food Allergies
All of the Disney Table Service Restaurants which accept reservations can accommodate dietary needs when advised 72 hours (3 Days), in advance. You can call (407) WDW-DINE and request that your allergies be noted on your reservation.

If you need additional information, you can use the following contact information on Monday - Friday between 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. (Weekend or after hour messages will be returned on the following business day.):

You can e-mail special.diets@disneyworld.com to make the request. They will ask for details around your reservation like reservation #, date, and time.

It is our son's (Celiac) favorite meal at Disney World. I confirmed the request when we checked in and we had to wait a long time to be seated. Perhaps they weren't ready for some reason. I know it takes a while to get a dedicated fryer up and running.

I would recommend stopping by the restaurant 30 minutes or an hour before your reservation to confirm the request. That is what we will do next time to avoid a wait.

I don't get why they have to make such a big deal about it. Skipper Canteen ALWAYS has the gf option of the chicken - so clearly there is a demand for it. I'd bet if they put it as a regular option at 50s they wouldn't need "a ton of lead time to heat up the dedicated fryer" as there would be more people who'd go for that. As it is, I doubt many people know it's even an option - but rather than say "Oh, we haven't been telling people it is" they would rather be all exclusive and secret menuy (I despise the insider/outsider aspect of those) and say "Oh look, there is such a limited demand for it, why bother."

I have a friend whose wife has Celiac and they get the GF chicken at 50s every trip. I know the way they always do it is heading by 50s earlier in the day to put in the special request...and it's always been accommodated. So, they just go up to the hostess, tell them they're dining there that evening, give them the ADR details, and ask that they put in the request with the kitchen to have the GF chicken ready for when they dine later in the day.

Your best bet to get GF fried chicken and not have to wait an extra long time is to come into the restaurant at least 30 mins prior.... I personally would tell you as soon as they open come in and talk to a host so the kitchen has as much advanced notification as this is my home location at Disney and right now I am deploy elsewhere.....and I can tell you the kitchen tries to be as accommodating as possible and giving them advanced time they know when you’ll be there so they can have the chicken ready to fry it!! It’s super yummy!!

Thanks so much for the strategies. My daughter is a sensitive celiac and having different choices at many different restaurants is Disney magic for her. Otherwise her life at restaurants is like, dry salad.
