Orbitz way cheaper than Disney right now

Does Orbitz do this 20% often? I am not ready to book and pay in full yet!

Hi I am new to this board so hopefully I am doing this correctly.

I would save about a few hundred dollars by booking with Orbitz but I am wondering if disney does offer free dining in october/November when we want to go will I be able to add it to my reservation at the time? Or would I lose out on that option because I booked with Orbitz. Also will I be able to make ADR's with the Orbitz reservation?

Thanks!!

:welcome:

You will not be able to get free dining with an outside company like Orbitz. You can make dining reservations, though.

Ok Thank you very much! Since we ned two rooms for 5 people I will wait to get a code or discount directly from Disney then. Not worth the few hundred dollars to miss out on the possibility of free dining!

Oh an thanks for the welcome!! :)

Sign up for a new ebates acct get $5 for signing up.
Then book a hotel thru ebates/orbitz use the code "discover" get 20% off plus 4% cash back from Ebates for booking at orbitz. Plus you will get Orbbucks too. I just saved $22 on my one night hotel. that would have cost me $87.00 without all the cash back bonuses

Yes they run it periodically. most recently it was 22% then 15% and now 20% Sign up for an Orbiz acct and they will email the offers to you

Are you sure that your rate from Disney is guaranteed? Disney typically announces their room rates for the next calendar year in July or August. You can still make room-only reservations (no packages) for a future date (I think that it's 499 days into the future) but the rate is based on the current year's rate for those same days and is subject to change once the actual price schedule for the upcoming year is announced.

YUP I'm sure. I'm checking in 12/27/14 and checking out 1/3/15....
"ROOM RATE REVISIONS FOR ARRIVALS JANUARY 1, 2014 TO DECEMBER 31, 2014: Room rates for arrivals on or prior to December 31, 2013 are guaranteed as long as room reservation is not changed (except for changes in tax rates or other governmental charges). For arrivals after December 31, 2013, deposits or prepayments guarantee room availability only as 2014 rates have not been finally determined by Disney and are subject to change without notice."

Psst...It's already 2014. :ssst:

yes I'm aware it's already 2014 but do we have any reason to believe that Disney changed its policy on this from what they did last year?
Everything at Disney is subject to change. Unless you have it in writing from Disney, it isn't guaranteed. Quoting a policy from last year on anything does not mean anything. They changed their ticket upgrade and bridging policy this year, didn't they? Why would you just assume that they can't or didn't do the same with their policy regarding room rates that span two calendar years?

However, back to the original point which was that Disney has NOT released their 2015 room rates and that's why travel websites like Orbitz and Travelocity cannot book dates past 12/31/14.

TRUE but I read the below as ANY 2014 dates between 1/1/14 and 12/31/14 are not guaranteed either. NO?

Because it's an outdated policy. It was written to cover reservations made in 2013 for dates in 2014 at a time that was prior to when rates for 2014 were established.

Are you actually getting this from the Disney website? Someone should have changed that well over a year ago if it's still up.

Well it's still there. I made my reservation a week or so ago and that is what it reads on the bottom of my confirmation.

You know what? I just checked a room-only reservation that I have and the same wording is on it. My vacation does not span 2014 into 2015 and it's a convention rate, so I'm not very concerned about the wording. But in your case, I would want clarification. It looks like someone in Disney IT dropped the ball. (As if that never happens, LOL!)

As someone else said you can't add it but you can cancel this and rebook with free dining with Disney. They have free cancellation read the policy on Orbitz but it seems like you can cancel for free up until around 5 days before your trip

I just called and was transferred from one department to another and then was told my room only rate that spans just a few days into 2015 as far as they are concerned IS guaranteed because it was booked with an arrival prior to 12/31/14. He told me if I see any changes to call and they would make an adjustment but he assured me I won't need to.

As to the dates on the confirmation page, he was going to contact the legal department to have them check because it reads as if NO 2014 dates are guaranteed.

Of course I don't have it in writing but I guess nobody traveling in 2014 does with the verbage now appearing on at least the room only confirmations. I'm not really expecting or worried about a problem with a rate increase.

Now what brought me to this thread-- I only wish I could save a few more bucks if Orbitz had my dates. Oh well.... I'll keep watching and you never know. I'm envious of everyone scoring some great savings. Good for you guys!!

where do you put the discount code in at?

when you are filling out your dates etc on the initial search page the area to enter a promo code is directly above the button you press to start the search as I recall...if not its directly underneath the button. Its not hidden and its not on the checkout page

I just booked this for in-laws and using the promo got a better rate ($10/night cheaper) through the orbits app then using the promo through the web (even with debates cash back)

This was the first time I used their app
