Marathon Weekend 2027

I am supposed to be helping my wife try to get in for the half marathon on registration day. Sounds like it is going to be harder than years past. My neighbor also asked me last night to help him out register for Dopey and send him links like I did last time he was able to register. I am going to tell him he is going to be on his own for registration this time around. LOL

If you're both at home and you get in first, you can tell him to run over to your house to register after you've secured your wife's bib

I'm also considering going through a charity now. On one hand, I don't really have many people to ask to donate, but on the other hand, I don't want to miss out on registering.

I went on the charity page and saw this for the first time, does anyone know what this is all about?

Ohh if you thought the setting aside of race spots for mediocre but connected influencers was bad wait until Adventures by Disney pushes aggressively into this space!

Based on the extended spots for the 5k, that’s the one I would leave for registration day..
(assuming the 5k info of W&D remains valid)

Is there one of those races that you'd be ok with missing? If so, that's the one I'd leave for registration day. Otherwise for me personally, it'd be a toss up between the half, which has historically been the one that stays open the longest, and the 5k, since they've added an unknown number of extra bibs.

I'm leaning toward leaving the 5K to registration day. It's probably the one I'd be least disappointed to miss, and the extended field helps. I also think the 5K at MW is a less attractive stand-alone race for the general public if it isn't right after NYE. I don't love the Half, but when you're not doing the marathon, it's hard to give up that run down Main Street and the castle pic.

I’m probably doing Dopey again. Is it crazy? Yes. But I can’t imagine doing MW without doing everything now and I love MW.

Also, the marathon would be my 50th runDisney finish line.

They used to have bib availability through travel agents, but that went away some years ago. This is either referencing the trip around the race (ie it's still on you to get a bib), or they may be bringing that back. My bet is the former or I think we'd see chatter from some of the rD connected agents.

Quoting myself to confirm that travel agents do NOT have bibs, nor are there any plans to bring them back. I checked with two different personal connections who are both Disney TAs and neither has heard anything. One reached out to her Disney contact and was told there were no plans in the works to bring them back. So unless they are keeping plans close to the belt, don't count on this to be an option.

Something must have went wrong with the Springtime medals, we're at the point where it's beyond the whole "medal monday" thing and they might just post whenever they get it together.

I'm in it for regular registration for 2027, but for 2028 I'll probably go through Charity for MW. Dopey is the only race I'd be devastated to miss. I thought about it this year but wasn't ready to commit when bib orders were being placed.

2028 is one of the main reasons I went through the charity again for 2027. Since you get "pre-order" on bibs from the charity, figured I want to stay in that status for 2028.

100% agree but just a small word of caution - sometimes charities don't get all of the bibs they request. I think it occurs less for the smaller charities (who are asking for fewer bibs overall, but it does happen. I remember several years ago where one charity had to go back to several people they approved to let them know they did not have a bib for them afterall. Definately worth doing to give yourself the best chance, but it's not done until its done and the contracts with Disney are signed.
