Orbitz users - hold my hand a bit

It seems we all have different experiences..... some find orbitz simple and easy, others, like myself, are wishing that I had just paid a bit more and ket it super simple, and booked thru Disney.:confused3 I have had issues from day 1 with res. names, tickets,MB...you name, I have it. This includes my now current.... name switcheroo...which neither side can 'fix' at the moment. I did call quite a while ago to add the minors to my orbitz res, but to to multiple and many MDE glitches, the names and MB are not the same.(again) so a clal to Disney tells me to call orbitz, a call to orbitz tells me that they will not add another adult name to the room to fix the issue on MDE/MB names. He informed me that I have "lots" of people I seem to want in my room now ( I assured him it was 2 minors I had added THRU their system) and I just wanted them to add the proper name of the other adult on the res. to solve my issues. Orbitz said no. YMMV. just be aware there can be major issues,no other reservation system in this world demands as much detail as MDE,and it can cause issues.:badpc:

Sorry you've had issues. Let me touch on the MDE issue: I had a similar issue with names, but it was sort of my fault. For some reason, I've always had DH in MDE under his proper/full first name and then also his name everyone calls him. The system would never let me delete one, so I have always put tickets, dining, etc., under the same consistent name so nothing would ever get mixed up. It had always worked just fine until my Orbitz reservation linked him to the other guy! Neither Disney nor Orbitz could fix it, but Disney connected me to their IT/tech department and let me tell you -- those guys were awesome! He could immediately see/understand my issue and he fixed it in about 10 minutes. When I checked MDE, the "other" DH was gone (finally...), and my Orbitz reservation which I had already linked to MDE was all fixed with the right DH listed.

So my advice re MDE issues is to ask Disney to speak with the IT/tech department and I'll bet they can help you out.

Quick question....I entered my Orbitz 6 digit confirmation number when I filled out the DME form. It hasn't showed on the my Disney experience site yet and curious if it will do so.

I am slightly nervous because I originally booked AKL through Disney when the new promo came out and the CM said that entered in the new DME information for me, but I haven't received anything yet. And I did it again when I booked AKL through Orbitz. I want to make sure that we get the correct tags and are able to tell which is right one should we get both.

I'm curious about this as well! I also booked AKL through Orbitz and then booked the DME. I did get an email confirmation from DME that they have me booked but it's not showing up on the MDE like it did last year.

You should get tags between 25 - 30 days before arrival. If you don't, I'd call DME directly to confirm and get some tags. Before then I wouldn't even worry about it, especially if you receive confirmation via email.

Interesting, thanks! We were originally booked at POR and got the tags a few weeks ago for those, which I was surprised about.

I'm pretty sure you'll need to link the reservation into MDE yourself; I don't think that booking the magical express reservation will do it.

Do you know how I would go about doing that?

Log into your MDE account. There's a section at the top of the page that says "Make or modify plans anytime. Do you want to connect additional reservations, tickets or friends?"

Click that link. It will walk you through the process of adding your hotel reservation.

Alternatively, select the dropdown menu in the top right labeled "MyDisneyExperience," and click the menu item "My Reservations and Tickets." Once you get to that page, click the "Link Resort Reservation" button.

Thanks for this. We already did this and the hotel reservation shows up fine. Our question is, should the Magical Express reservations also show up? We have heard conflicting stories about this.

Ah, OK, I was confused about what you were looking for in MDE; I understand now. Hmmm... I don't see a place in MDE where a Magical Express reservation would show up, or a place to link one. I haven't used Magical Express since MDE started, so I guess I'm no help there. Sorry for steering you wrong.

You can certainly call Magical Express and confirm your reservation if you want to make sure. (866) 599-0951.

OK, I've been following this thread and I got up the courage to book my upcoming room with Orbitz. I had an existing reservation through Disney that I have yet to cancel. I called Orbitz and added my two children, no issue. My question is this: I linked my reservation in MDE and saw myself and two children there, but I had to add my wife who was just listed as ADULT. There was some warning bubble that popped up about changing names. The reservation looks OK, but I'm nervous just the same. Does that sound right?

We used Orbit for our upcoming stay, and everything is showing up in MDE like it's supposed to!

I had to do this too. I think it's bc you put "2adults" in orbitz and disney didn't recognize it. I just changed it to DH's name on the Disney site and there were no problems

following, great info so far, ty!
quick Q, do you get magic bands included and shipped to your house free and access to fast pass plus 60 days in advance when you book hotel and tickets (prob. in 2 transactions at different times for budget's sake) thru Orbitz and link to MDE? Thanks!!

Yes. Once it's linked to MDE it looks just like a regular reservation on there. Just customize your bands and they get shipped.

I haven't seen much talk about linking tickets on there, so I won't touch on that.

Couple things....

1) Ebates will get you 1%. I thought it was 6.5%, and almost booked AGAIN to go that route, but tht is only for cruises. I'm not going to go through this all again, but if you can remember to do it straight off, it's 1%!

2) Absolutely, do NOT put down four people in your room. Only put two adults and then straighten it out later with Disney. I was just charged an extra $50 per night because I put my kids on the reservation. It has then taken me two hours to sort of straighten it out.

I think they may have fixed this when it comes to kids. I booked a trip for May last week. I tried just for the heck of it to price it with and without DGD on the reservation. When I added her the price did not change. So I booked with Orbitz and didn't have to make any adjustments with Disney

I just went through a mock ressie and they charged for my kids.

Im confused also. If I do just 2 adults, I get much lower rate than 2 adults and 3 kids? Which way do I book?

Thanks.

Without kids, then call to add then after booking. Orbitz charges for kids and Disney doesn't.

How strange. Guess I just got lucky. Or maybe it doesn't charge for 1 but does for more than 1? Best guess I have

ETA - I just went back and checked again, I get the same exact rate for 2 adults as I do for 2 adults and 1 7yo child. Don't know that age would make a difference but figured I'd include it just in case it does.
