I usually book directly through Disney directly but used Orbitz for my 10 day August 13 trip for a better rate and all went great. I'm booked through Disney for a 7 night Feb stay with 20% room only pass holder rate at AoA. I decided to check today and Orbitz had AoA at 15% off plus code CELEBRATE gives 15% off on top of that. So along with Orbucks from Aug trip I ended up saving $200. Even without Orbucks I would have saved $125.

Hopefully someone else might be able to save. Looks like at least SSR, AKL, OKW, WL have some discounted rates (at least during early Feb when I was looking).

This is a great deal. The only "catch" is that it has to be paid in full at the time of booking, unlike other Disney reservations.

Cheaptickets.com will generally have a 5% better discount than Orbitz. For example, when Orbitz has a 15% off promotion, Cheaptickets will be 20%.

Just wondering. .if one books through other sites like cheap tickets, expedia etc. Can you link reservations to My Disney Experience app? Also how would one arrange Magical Express? Read something s on Mousesavers that suggested might be hard to contact someone if problem arises.

I have been able to get the Disney confirmation # and successfully link to MDE booking through Cheaptickets and Expedia.ca.
Since Orbitz appears to be the same entity as Cheaptickets (correct me if I'm wrong), I would assume it would be possible through Orbitz also.

Expedia I had to telephone, the customer service rep emailed Disney for the confirm # and less than a week later, I received an email from Expedia with the Disney confirm #.

Note that the format of the confirm # may differ from what you're used to when you book directly with Disney.

I searched the forums to get more detailed information about other who have done this.

Re: Magical Express, I have not done this but assume this is possible. Try a search of the forums on this.

My August trip through Orbitz I called after booking online and asked them for the Disney number and I linked it easily. This February trip I just booked, the confirmation email from Orbitz came with their Orbitz number and the Disney reservation number. So within a couple of hours of booking I got the email, linked reservation and had my MagicBand options show up immediately.

And yes Orbitz and Cheaptickets are the same company.

Grumble. I'm trying to land the LM room at AoA again (it was just too perfect for us, and I'm 99% positive I won't love any other resorts) for October 2014, and no one has anything yet for them! They're only offering the suites, which I definitely do not need.

But at least you got a good deal with your room! That's definitely a good :thumbsup2

Just cancelled my reservation through Disney for February 1-8 after booking same dates through Orbitz. Saved $197.74 at AKL. I'll take it! Also, already linked it with no problem. Disney reservation number was in the confirmation e-mail from Orbitz

Thank you for the info!

Because you'll have a Disney confirmation #, would you be able to add DDP to these reservations? (I believe you have to call Disney to call to add it before your trip, but would you be able to?)

I'm getting desperate trying to find ways to take this trip - DH said it's only do-able if we're able to do it for under $4,500. But man, I just can't get WL with hotel, 7 day PH, dining and airfare for less than $4,950 - even with last month's discounts!

WDW FD Pins, why do you never find me?!?!?

ugh!

I was dedicated to booking directly with Disney directly until recent years. I'm getting better discounts through reputable online travel companies. Even got a 30% discount for Christmas week at CBR. Never had a problem linking anything.

Was this with Orbitz or a different one? I'm going to look for an Easter week deal -- there are tons of empty rooms but it looks like Disney will continue to black it out for deals.

It was with Travelosity.

I don't think Disney is concerned about filling the hotels as they are the parks. There were a lot of rooms in the deluxe category in December but even with a discount, they are way over priced.

No. It's not a package. You have to book a package to get a dining plan (unless you're a DVC member). Third party brokers don't book packages.

Even though you have a Disney confirmation number, you won't be able to call Disney for anything about the reservation, you'd have to go through the third party broker. Disney does not consider you the owner of the reservation - the broker is.

Great, thanks. That was the one site I didn't check. Cheaptickets gave me 20% off Poly CL TPV, but you're right and it's still way over priced. I think it's so interesting that Disney doesn't care about filling rooms in the deluxe category -- must be they make enough money at the parks and perhaps the value/moderate resorts. Although I am pricing the costs to stay at AoA suites and POFQ and they are both also available during Easter. POFQ for the entire 6 days is not much more than the cost of Poly CL TPV for just 1 night:rolleyes:

Anyone having problems with the site?

I went to Orbitz first, got a Pop room listed at $64/night (need three nights), so I'm estimating $191.01+$23.88 (12.5% tax, that's right, right?) = $214.89. But it gave me a quote for $253 and change. So I x'd out, went to Ebates to work a little more in my favor, and when I went back to the site, it wouldn't apply the CELEBRATE promo code to the room again.

/facepalm

Should I dump my cookies?

Saved over 300.00 last April going through Orbitz and only issue was they charged for kids. I had to talk back and forth with Disney to square that away. I was able to link into Disney with my code- hd to call for it and had to link the magical express but it worked out well in the end!
