I have experience with this. I booked a room at Universal for three nights through Orbitz last year, as well as three nights right afterwards at Disney. I got sick as a dog three days before our trip and came down with an awful ear infection and blocked ears. Doctor wouldn't let me fly. I had to cancel the first two nights of our trip (at Universal). I called Orbitz, and they let the resort know, but I was not able to get any money back. When I arrived at the resort, I mentioned this to them, and the manager said that if I had booked directly with them, he would refund the charge for the unused nights, as they often make exceptions to cancellation fees for reasons of illness, but because Orbitz "owned" the reservation, any refund was totally up to them. It was disappointing. I vowed not to use them again unless I am booking something to be used in the immediate future.
