Orbitz 15% off summer discount rates

When using Orbitz to book POR or CSR for 12/19-12/29/14, it does not say "PROMOTION CODE ELIGIBLE" anywhere as far as I can see. Does this mean that the code "DISCOVER" would not be applicable? I know discounts are seldom offered for this time at any Disney resorts, so my thought is that even though the promotion is through 12/31, Disney resorts are not eligible for this discount.

I booked CSR and it also did not say "Promo Code Eligible" but I still received the promo code rate! Fake book the resort and when you get to payment area enter the promo code, it should show promo code applied and the reprice on the right side of the screen.

Have to thank everyone since not only using the DISCOVER code and got big savings for 8 nights at the Yacht Club, but was also able to use code for a hotel stay in May in Cape Town, SA!! Save me even more money with orbitz and I really have not used them much for booking vacations, just quick short hotel or car ressies. Disboards is so great!!! A

I also just booked through Orbitz

Caribbean Beach June 25-28- 2 adults and will add 14 yr. old later

Standard view- Disney Summer rate & AAA rate- 529.20

Orbitz price with 20% discount- $439.83 plus 13.19 in orbucks and 6.5% back from ebates.

I'm satisfied with my savings!!:cool1:

Quick question, did you get the 6.5% cashback? I only got 1% and send them a message about it.

its only 1%. That other person likely read the up to 6.5% and thought they were getting 6.5%. Hotels get 1% right now

I think I must be doing something wrong, I always come up with a higher price than the spring discount gave me through Disney. I tried for both of my room only reservations. :(

Edited to ask:
Is everyone only booking for one adult and then adding on the other people to the room? If I add my whole family on the orbitz site, it gives me a price above Disney's.

Thanks!

Yes, just book for 1 or 2 adults, then call back soon after and they will need to call Disney to have your kiddos added to the reservation! :)

Just re-read the thread and saw my answer!

Woohoo!

We were doing a 3 way split stay. 2 nights POR/ 6 nights YC w/ DxDDP (can't save on that)/ one night YC CL (which is now changing to WL CL)

With the resort change and the discounts we are saving an extra $93.85, not counting what will come in from Ebates. Completely worth it in my eyes!

OK, I called. They did not add the names of my children, they just added and 11 year old and 9 year old child. So, I tried to add our reservation to MDE and it will not let me modify their names. But there are no names on the reservation. UGH. What am I doing wrong? I cannot add my hubby either. It shows 2 adults, 2 children but no names.

Hi, I made my reservation with Orbitz, after I got their e-mail confirmation I went on to the MDE site created an account for my husband, I then use the link reservation button and put the hotel confirmation number, (not the orbitz reservation number) in. I have to say I waited about a half hour after I made the ressies. Once I did my reservation came up as 2 adults and I had to replace the no name guest with my name. My husband was the only one who showed since it was his ressie.

My husband then called Orbitz and they called Disney while we were on the phone, Orbitz had them add a child to the ressie. They did not put her name only a child down. After a few minutes I went back on to MDE and the ressie showed 2 adults and 1 child. It then prompted me to give the no name child guest a name. I added my daughter's name and it took fine. I even went in after that and customized all 3 of our magic bands.

I then called DME myself and set up our transportation.

Just so you know I had link 2 ressies, I am doing a split stay.

I hope this helps.:)

I just booked with Orbitz and its not linking with my DME.
Has anyone else had trouble with this?

Hi I posted a couple before you on what I did. There was another poster having problems and got it straightened out.

Good luck:)

Thanks for the thread everyone (and ZZUB for forwarding it to me.)

I just booked through Orbitz and here is what the numbers came up as. We are splitting our stay on / off property (too long to explain here).

Here are the numbers and here are the hassles you will need to sort through. I will leave it to you to determine whether you feel it is worth of your time & effort.

Original booking through WDW Travel Company: 2 Nights (Arriving Sat June 28) - Wilderness Lodge Standard View Room - Rack Rate of $360 with taxes and fees of $45 per night. Total cost: $810.

After Disney's recently released promotional, I called back and they did have rooms available for our dates that qualified for the 30%, but only in Woods View. Changed the booking and now had 2 nights Wilderness Lodge Woods View - Discounted rate of $252 with taxes and fees of $31.50 per night. Total Cost: $567

Today, I checked Orbitz and they had the standard view rooms for $240. Using the Discount code "discover" the rate dropped to $192.64. With the savings, I added another night on property leaving us with a final booking of 3 night Wilderness Lodge Woods View - Nightly Rate $192.64, total taxes and fees of $97.63, total cost $675.45.

Thanks to this thread, I was able to add a night at the Wildnesss Lodge for $108 compared to the current best offer at Disney and was able to both add a night and save $135 when compared to my original rack rate.

All in all, a Freakishly good deal and worth the inconveniences it creates. I have spoken with Disney Travel about everything and will list the next steps required so you aren't caught off guard.

ADR's will cancel if I were to just go in and cancel the Resort booking. (EVEN though I have them tied to my credit card.) To avoid this, I must get the new reservation into the Disney Experience site, then CALL WDW Dining to have the ADR's associated with the new reservation number.

The girls are not listed on the Orbitz reservation so I need to call and add them. (What others have reported about only adding 2 adults to your initial reservation is accurate.)

I will need to re-customize our Magic Bands.

Disney will refund the deposit in full. There is some concern / misconception regarding the 2 billing cycle refund policy. It's complex, but I think I can explain it.

Disney does issue a full refund within 10 days.

Your credit card company then has up to 30 days to post the credit to your account.

SO let's say your account statement closes April 10, and you request a refund April 8.

Disney then sends in the refund on say April 15. It's past the statement date so your first billing cycle after your refund request will not show the refund.

Then let's say your credit card company decides to exercise it's 30 day limit and finally posts the refund to your account on May 14. Since your May statement closed on the 10, it won't be on your May billing cycle either.

You would see it on your June statement. So it's going to be coming back, it's just a matter of staying on top of it and keeping an eye on the account.

Hope that covers it. I'd definitely recommend this discount to anyone. (In fact I already have.)

We were staying at AofA in a Little Mermaid room but with this Orbitz deal we switched today to CBR for $33 less. We now will buy our tix through UT and pay out of pocket for food. We didn't have to do anything to our ADR's because they aren't tied to our reservations and I also went to www.disneysmagicalexpress.com and changed our resort info.

We booked 2 adults and then called Orbitz to have our 2 children added like everyone said it was very easy and our new reservation is up on MDE and we just customized our Magicbands.

Thanks to everyone here who gave out all this great info.:thumbsup2
