Can anyone give me any info on this resort? We are staying there mid March and I'm very excited to have some s-p-a-c-e this year! The 5 of us have stayed at the Vistana, the Polynesian and at Carribean beach. I know Orange Lake is big- anything I should request?
Thanks!

Hello :flower:

We stayed at OLCC in February 2004 and will be returning in March 2006. We really liked it. It was our first time at a timeshare resort (a friend got it for us to use). It is a lovely place and we were very happy with it even though some people complain that it is too big! I think the water park should be open by the time we go (and you!), which will be nice to have right on site. It will be up near the East Village. We are requesting East Village, but not closest to the water park. We just want to be near the small pool since we have two little ones going with us. We are interested in possibly purchasing a time share ... but not directly through OLCC ... unless I win the lottery b/w now and then! (but I don't have to tell them that ;) )

You will love it too I'm sure :sunny:

My friend at work goes there every year. In the spring a lazy river and new pool are opening.

who did you request the east village through??

when we called to ask about it, they said they only will take requests from owners??

the pool and water park seem to be far from completion, although they may do wonders in the next four months

the first building at the river island is being out fitted right now

also, thought i read somewhere the river island clubhouse will be for OWNERS only????

any one else have input on this

Can anyone call to make reservations there? My DH is taking a buddy for a 5 day golf trip in orlando and this looks nice

Lawgs ... when we went I also called and was told that, so I sent an email directly to OLCC (guest services? ... something I'm not sure). I did say that I had heard East Village was nice, but I was enquiring about whether you could have a non-smoking villa, which of course you can't I guess because people actually own these, so if they want to smoke they can. I have asthma and allergies. When I told them this, he emailed me back and said he would be sure that the villa we got would be super cleaned and would do his best to accomodate this. I have a feeling this is why I was given East Village, as it is newest and would have been easier to get "super clean" (whatever that is :rotfl: )!!! I did again mention it at check in too. They really do try to accomodate you the best they can because they really hope you will be interested in buying into a timeshare, so I think they try their hardest to be super nice .... just in case ;) !!!

So I am going to email again soon to again inquire about the asthma/allergies (as smoking is one of my worst allergies and can trigger an asthma attack). We are actually going back as part of a package that we got suckered into buying during the timeshare presentation. We finally agreed to come back and try it again for a week, for a fairly good price. So we have to do the timeshare thing again ... we aren't purchasing (as this is something we can't afford right now ... and if I could I'd probably try to buy resale) ... but anyways ... they don't know this and so I will hopefully get to go to East Village again as I just "may" be interested in purchasing one of these $18,000 for one week villas. Now if I win the lottery .... maybe 52 weeks would be nice :teeth:

Good luck ....

p.s. I will tell you that North Village is also quite nice. They have a splash pool there that is nice for the kids too. Oh ... and I sure hope the water park is open ... part of the deal to come back and do the timeshare presentation was that we would get a family pass to go to the water park (plus golf and cart passes for dh and d-dad; universal passes; towels -this was the clincher  ; etc) ... so it better be open by March!!

I have allergies too - both dust mites and smoking can bring on bronchial asthmaic.

however that is why I take daily medicines and bring allergy mediciation with me always....

you never know when some idot is going to cross your path smoking a cigar....

However I got a West unit. I really loved it. It had lately been redone (I think in the couple of weeks before we came). It wasn't too new - or that would make me sick too....

anyway we loved it. However it was far from WDW. It was 9 1/2 miles (using shortcut) or 22.5 miles using WDW way.

spicey was at FW (9 1/2 miles) and I had to go over every day several times a day to feed him and take him for walks.

I won't stay there again as long as he lives...

Yes - request a room that has been RENOVATED! We stayed there 2 years ago. The first room they put us in was awful. The closet door was broken, my DH almost fell out of a chair because the arm was broken, and we killed a cucaracha the size of a hockey puck! We requested to be moved, and they moved us to a newer building, which was really nice. The jacuzzi tub was great. Maybe all the rooms have been renovated since then, but it doesn't hurt to ask just in case.

as of january, all the units at orange lake will be NON smoking, according to the people who toured us

they offered the latitudes package to SIL but of course i kicked her under the table ( she usually travels with us )

they did make a "nice" offer for one of the newer units at river island with a pool view ( not the 20000$ they hit you with in the first round ) but we could not get the week we wanted right now ( they can not offer "future" weeks, only weeks that have past according to our tour guide eg we were there week 48 so could not get a week past that for some reason unless we were willing to pay FULL price which of course was much more than the other OFFER using equity at OLCC ), thus we will see what happens when we go back in january

I stayed at Orange Lake 12/4-12/11. At check-in I requested a newer unit. I was given building 87000 in the East Village. This unit was great. 2BR, 2BA, full kitchen, with washer & dryer. Everything was very clean. It is a good distance from the main gate, but I found another way in by the Publix on 192, there's another east gate that stays open till 10 p.m. We used this route most of the time. Again, we had a great time at this resort, the kids loved the water slide at splash lagoon. Hope this helps.

mr good wrench

were you on an exchange or renting....

the tour guide said that anyone who is trading in, are put into the older west village section and that only owners could make requests....

wonder if he was just making a sales pitch ??

I was told I couldn't request a unit from a customer service person over the phone before I left, but at check in , I made a request for a newer unit. The person at the front desk did it for me, no questions asked. My brother in law transfered his RCI week for us to Orange Lake. Hope this helps.

Orange lake is amazing. I've been there 4 times in the past 3 years. My family and I love it so much that we own 3 weeks there. There is so much to do that you don't even have to leave the resort if you don't want to. They have over 6 pools and amazing golf. They are building a new water park that will include a lazy river and additional holes mini-golf. Everyone in my family enjoys themselves there, from my 7 year old niece to my 73 year old grandparents.

I hope you enjoy yourself there.

Orange Lake
What a wonderful place. It is huge!!!! I went with friends this past June. I thought about selling my timeshare in Orlando to buy here. Many activities to keep you busy. Not in the heart of the action but still close enough WDW parks.
Enjoy.

I own at orange lake and love it, last i heard they were making some type of short cut to disney but i don't know much more then that.
