Someone posted that it's not a bad idea to check the Orange County School website to see when they have half days as that can sometimes increase crowds.

We are at DL 9/15-9/19 and 9/16 was going to be the first day in the Parks. And just our luck, it's a teacher in-service day and students don't have to attend!!
Here is the link if interested

Does anyone know if this typically increases the crowds on a day when the local schools are closed?? We were thinking of going to Legoland for a day and maybe we should do it that day and then hit the parks Thursday and Friday??

THanks in advance.

The site you looked at is for the schools in the city of Orange. The Orange district is not the largest in the county, I'm sure Anaheim and Santa Ana are much larger. There are many school districts in Orange County, and something like in-service days will be different in each district.

wow there in school when I come, but does anyone else have calandars for other school districts. I would love to see what schools are back in session when we got August 19th thru the 26th !!

Does anyone know if "Instructional Planning" means no school or half day or what??

Thanks!

teatime, I don't believe she was repsonding to your date-range. It looks like she's referring to September 16 and 17 for Track A students. :) I went online to look at the Anaheim schedule and there aren't any minimum days (what I assume are half-days) listed for your travel dates.

Here's the Anaheim City School District's calendar. HTH!

Oh I know what you mean! These calendars are making me *stabby*.

I found a link that offers MORE links! And some local districts calendars are not up to date. *stabby stabby*

So I guess some kids will be in session, others won't.

But the question I still have not seen answered yet (and the locals will have to be the ones to weigh in on this) but does schools being out make a significant difference on attendance for that day and if possible, should the parks be avoided?

It really depends on how many districts have the day off. We usually don't go to the park when there is an inservice day for the teachers because it lands in the middle of the week and we just have too many other things to do.
