Hello --

Well, this year hasn't turned out as planned, but my family is healthy so all is good. Anyway, I had reservations for my goddaughter, her five-year-old and myself to visit Walt Disney World in July. However, they were to come from Germany and had to cancel their trip.

I cancelled the resort and character dining and already got the refund. I am an annual pass holder (not yet activated), so I didn't need tickets for myself. I bought tickets for my guests. At the moment, they are good for dates beginning July 18. I bought the tickets through a travel agency, if that makes a difference.

I'm trying to clarify my options here. I can't figure it out from the WDW website and "all circuits are busy" when I try to call. Can anyone help?

What I'd really like to do is get credit for future tickets in the amount of the purchase price. (1) I don't know when we will be able to go back to the parks and can't commit at this time and (2) I'm not sure my goddaughter will be able to reschedule her trip, so I might use the credit for other family members' tickets.

Is it possible to do this? Can I get indefinite credit? If so, what do I need to do?

Thanks so much.

Adding to the above...unused tickets can be transferred from one guest to another. So if you bought the tickets and would like to use the credit for future upgrades for other guests, I suggest re-assigning those tickets to yourself or a dummy profile just to hold them. Then when you are ready, you can upgrade the ticket and shift it to the right person.

Just a heads up - once their use period expires, they will disappear from your MDE. You won’t be able to see them, but they won’t be lost. When you call to see about purchasing new tickets with their value, the CM will be able to pull them up on Disney’s system and credit your their purchase price.

Also, the ticket values can only be used to purchase new tickets and can’t be combined. So you couldn’t, for example, use the purchase price of both together to pay for one AP.

Thank you all very much. This would have been my next question -- How is that archived credit preserved for future use? I will also print out copies of all documentation with the Disney Reservation Number and whatever other information I have. I'm sure it will all work out. Looking forward to that day!

does that credit for unused tickets also apply to unused days on a multiple day ticket? For example the 3-day Discover Disney Ticket when 1 day has been used and 2 days remain on the ticket which expires 9/30/20.

Generally speaking, no. Unused days on a multi-day ticket will expire on that stated date and lose all value. WDW has not indicated the FL Discover tickets will receive any further extension.

It can only be used in person.

Not sure if you were looking to sell any tickets. I’d be happy to buy them off of you. My family (wife, child and mother in law) are going in August and can’t purchase tickets yet. Just a thought.

It can only be used in person.
I'm not sure if you're saying that the transaction can only be done in person, but I can confirm that the value of unused expired tickets can be applied to the purchase of new tickets over the phone. I did this in January for my tickets that expired last November. It took some persistence and being transferred a few times, but once I got to the right CM, it was a very smooth process.

If I purchase a ticket now but end up not going until after it expires in September 2021, I can apply the value to buy a new ticket. If I end up not going before the new ticket expires, can the value carry over again for another ticket, or is it just a "on time " carryover?

Thanks

This changed very recently. But yes you can call now.

You can keep carrying it over, but remember that as prices go up, each new ticket is likely to cost more. You will pay the difference in price if it’s more expensive, but won’t get a refund if you reduce entitlements for a lower priced ticket.

Newly purchased tickets do not have a 9/2021 expiration. If you buy tickets, they will be the standard date-based tickets. The only reason people have the longer extension is the shut down.

Just want to make sure I am understanding this correctly...if I purchase tickets for a March 2021 trip and we can’t go ...I can use the credit from the tickets to purchase tickets for a May trip.

Yes. If you know before your trip that you aren’t going, you can just change them online, and pay the difference, it takes about a minute per person. It’s only if you let them expire that you have to jump through any hoops at all.

I have 7 day tickets that were supposed to start the first week of June but were extended to Sept. 2021. We have decided to cisit the beach this August and go to Disney next September.

Does anyone know if the days have to be used within a certain time frame? Can I use 2 days this August and then 5 days next September? Usually there is a 14 day timeframe to use multi day passes. But, I wonder if it is different now with the reservation system.

This appears to be the case, as several people have reported it after speaking with the ticket department. It would be nice to hear from someone with actual park experience with this.

I did test it. I was able to make a reservation for August 15, 2020 and September 19, 2021. It did not prompt me to pick dates for the rest of my tickets. I would like to confirm with Disney before I commit to anything. But, it seems like they may be allowing us to pick any days between now and September 26, 2021.

Thanks. Others have shared similar experiences about reservations. Have you seen any reports of people actually using their tickets and retaining the remaining days for use until Sept 2021? I know it's only been a few days, so perhaps too early for this.
