What are the room options for a family of 6; 4 kids under the age of 9?

I think with that configuration, 2 rooms at a value might be the most economical option. Unless there's someone under 3 who doesn't count against capacity, and then you can look at resorts that have rooms that sleep 5.

You have a couple of options, depending on your budget.

The most affordable is an offsite option. You can rent a full house, condo, or timeshare villa for the fraction of the cost of a Disney resort.

The next one is one of the Family Suites at All Star Music or Art of Animation. They both sleep 6 people.

The next is 2 rooms at the resort of your choice. I do not know the rules about connecting rooms, though.

Lastly, you can rent a DVC 2-bedroom villa. These villas sleep at least 8 people. If one of your kids is under 3 and can sleep in a pack and play, you can get away with one of the 1-bedrooms that sleep 5. You can either book directly with Disney or you can rent points from a DVC owner.

I think we'd need more info to properly help.

You could stay at AOA or All Star Music in a family suite.

You could book a cabin.

You could also stay in any resort and book 2 rooms.

You could stay in a room that sleeps 5 as long as one of the kids is under 2.

You could book a DVC accommodation that sleeps 6+

The cabins at Fort Wilderness also sleep 6. There is a bedroom with queen bed and twin mattress bunk bed, then out in the kitchen/living room area is a pull down queen bed (may be full, but i think queen).

These used to be a moderate cash option at WDW. They were added to DVC last year. Much of the year they are between 20-25 DVC points per night. If you could work out a point rental with availability, likely end up between $380 to $500 a night.

Also toss in a question on how many nights they are staying, if going to parks and if so how many times, along with which parks!

To me the perfect place to stay at your stage of life right now is the cabins at the fort. make sure to get a golf cart rental and it will be one of your favorite family trips. Can even save money and skip the parks one day to enjoy the fort as they have plenty to do.

Most economical at face value will be staying off site. Keep in mind though you are renting a car big enough for all of you if you don't have the ability to drive down and will be paying for parking every time you want to go on site. there's also the time driving in, parking then getting from parking to the front gate. taking a break in the middle of the day is also difficult and now time consuming driving away and then returning to the park later. Everyone has something negative about on site transportation but it's still faster then staying off site in most cases.

As said AOA and Music have family suites. AOA will also come with access to the skyliner and has fantastic theming for your kids age brackets.

Staying at the cabin will be an adventure in and of itself. While we haven't stayed yet (it's on our list) I know that resort has a ton to offer every age. I do not know if they have 6 people golf carts for rent though and that will be the best way to get around as mentioned.

Booking side by sides is an option though an awkward one and I would start looking now to secure that if you have a resort you want.

Renting DVC points is the direction I would heavily look at in your shoes. every DVC has a two bedroom option and while still expensive I argue renting the points will give you more bang for your buck.

Assuming you want to stay together and not split up, your options onsite are a Family Suite (AoA or ASMu), the Fort Wilderness Cabins, or a 2-bedroom villa at a deluxe resort. Or stay off-site.

Connecting rooms are not guaranteed at WDW. If you are willing to take a risk of splitting up 1 parent + 2 kids in each room, you can book 2 rooms at any resort.

If you want to rent DVC, do some research and be sure that's a good option for you. Generally it's NOT refundable.

Yes they do have 6 passenger golf carts but not as many as the 4 cart.
Recommend you call to reserve because they are very lenient with cancellation For their Fort Cabin guests.
Fort Wilderness Cabin Golf Rental

ChipnDale Campfire sing along Movie and roasting marshmallows
MK Fireworks 9:20
Electrical Water Pageant nightly 9:45
Plus Monthly Activity Guide that includes archery and crafts
My teens fought over the top bunk bed !
Your child is young and should sleep on lower bunk bed but fun to crawl up to look at the tree tops thru the windows . And watch for the moon and stars

Plus resort TV broadcasts the replay of Happily Ever After so you can watch the fireworks in your PJs and wait for Tinkerbell to fly from the Castle spreading pixie dust
And a grill just outside your cabin patio that is cleaned for you and you do not have to clean when you leave!

Depending on budget look into a Premium Room/Alcove and add a connecting two bed room. Some of these have two beds connecting to two bed rooms and others allow for a roll away in the suite and then add the room with 2 doubles. It is a lot of space to spread out and you get the additional benefits of deluxe hours etc.

Did you mean to say DVC rentals are generally non-refundable? That's what I've heard.

EDIT: I'm thinking of point rentals. Booking the DVC villa directly from Disney does have the normal Disney cancellation policy, I believe.

What hotel(s) are you describing?

Yes, thanks! I’ll correct it.

You’ll need to be more specific on what resort you’re considering.

If I were to recommend, I’d get the Family Suites in Art of Animation. It is slightly steeper in price but it does get the job of having such a large group accommodated.

After poking around the prices of the value suites and the cabin option, leaning toward the cabin for atmostphere and more room.
