Optional Dress Up Night

It's been a long time since we sailed anything shorter than a 7 night cruise, so we are used to the Formal nights with some folks (including us) going all out with gowns and tuxedos). Now we have a 5 night booked for March and expect we will have an Optional Dress Up night. Would I be the only one in a tux?

Maybe. We sail 7+ nights most times but when we do choose shorter cruises (rarely), we love not packing the dressier clothes. On optional dress up, we opt out. We are looking at some of the future fort Lauderdale cruises that are 5 days and the packing light option was our first thought.

We were on the Dream last month for a 5-night cruise and there was no optional formal/dress-up night on our cruise like there was on our 7-night cruise on the Fantasy in 2019. I still packed a couple of jackets and my wife a couple of dresses since we had Remy booked twice (though jackets are no longer required). But then again, we enjoy dressing up.

We just got off 5 day dream and I saw very few dressed up on the optional semi formal night. If you like to dress up though I say go for it. We went to Remy dinner and brunch and dressed up for them, just not gown and tux dressed and crew would say have fun at Remy while we were heading there. I guess they are used to that’s who dresses up on the shorter cruises.

I would say that if you are going to the MDR that night, you will stick out. If you go to Rémy or Palo, it would not be out of place.

Dress as fancy as you like and screw what anyone else may think. My husband and I love getting dressed up, so we always go all out.
