Option for Orlando stranded during strike

I thought I would post an option that I have decided to go with for our family if Delta chooses to strike while we are in Orlando.

Our flight home is 4/22. I don't think I will get a flight out Easter Week (and in Mass it is Spring Break week too) on any airline at any price if they strike. I stumbled upon a good rental car option that I would like to share for those that might be interested. Alamo - Minivan 4/22-4/24 pu MCO, drop off Cambridge, MA $43.08/tax included. On another thread, Ducklite mentioned to double check on high drop off fees, so I called they informed me they are running a special where all drop off fees on rentals originated in FL are being waived. Since I am renting a minivan from Alamo for my stay anyway I think there is even less of a chance of them telling me there are no more cars (thinking 9/11 scenario). If they don't strike, then I will just cancel my rental back to Mass.

Who knows, maybe this will turn out to be a nightmare too, but I think it is the best back up option at this point for us.

Actually that makes a lot of sense.

I know that I have seen specials for taking cars out of FL this time of year. The snowbird traffic drops WAY down at Easter....

Great idea Mary Ann! Thanks for posting it...now let's hope there is no need for 'other options'!!!

It's going to work for some destinations, not for all. OP lives near Cape Cod where summer rentals will be needed. But for someone driving to Detroit they might not get so lucky. Check and double check to make sure you won't be charged, because those fees are incredibly high if you are!

Get a compass and keep heading NE...if you hit water, go west a bit, then back to NE!!! I miss the talking car!!!

Just getting the visual of me plunging into the Atlantic, jumping back out and continuing on my merry way NE, until I plunge again :rolleyes1

Hey--there's a lot of folks from MA on this thread-- maybe we should just charter a bus?? I'll bring the margaritas! ;) There's four of us--anyone else want to hop aboard??

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2: Now that would be quite a sight heading North on I95, wouldn't it :rotfl2: :rotfl2: . We could make banners, hire a marching band to see us off................

Nah...you shouldn't have a problem with plunging until you hit the Cheasapeke area (oh man...I know I've butchered that spelling..I apologize to you guys down there)...those huge, long causeway/bridges scare the bejeebers out of me!
