Did anyone catch Oprah today? They had all three couples on there and dealt quite a bit with credit card debt.

The one thing I thought was totally strange was that Lisa Bradley had never gone into a grocery store and used a cart. That just blew my mind.

It hasn't come on here, yet. :teeth: :rotfl2: Thanks for the heads up!

I didn't see the show but I looked at Oprah's website and got the basic info. It seems the 3rd family that they haven't mentioned since the first show is really putting forth a good effort. Good for them!
I too was very surprised that Lisa had never been in a grocery store before. Never heard anyone say that before.

I can't wait to hear everyone reaction. It is on in Chicago at 9am (and again at 11pm). Everyone watch quick and chime in :goodvibes

I Tivo'd it, can't wait to watch!

I can believe Lisa doesn't gorcery shop, she said she didn't cook and they ate out 3 meals a day, other than milk, juice, and snacks she wouldn't need to shop at all!

Now that would be a "prize" that Oprah could give them in good concience. Cooking lessons for Lisa and her husband! :)

I just noticed that Lisa just received a whole new litchen of appliances, dishes, etc..... I guess this is one of the Oprah gifts. I had a feeling that these families were going to get a lot of help from being on the show and I have to admit I don't know of too many people who would be willing to tell the world how bad they allowed their debt to get so out of control.

David Bach (working w/couple #3) is offering the most useful advice & strategy so far, IMHO.

I agree. I think the Sallh Eggleston's family is going to make it. Actually I think all of them will make it now. :thumbsup2

I can't imagine eating out 3 times a day, 7 days a week!! I would be HUGE!! It is amazing to see what a cup of coffee adds up to!! Has anyone tried to reduce their credit card interest rates yet??

I'm not sure I buy this one. When they showed Lisa showing her plastic cups and bowls - it looked like the original show but I missed that one - there were lots boxes of something lined up on the counter. Like cereal or snack foods. I can't believe she'd have gotten all that at the gas station. Maybe I missed something but I think they're exaggerating a little (not sure if it's Lisa or the show doing it). Then again, why should anything about that family surprise me? :confused3

She certainly could have gotten that stuff at a convenience store like a 7-11 type of place.

Unfortunately, I forgot to set the VCR so we missed the show. Have to check the listings and see if they repeat it during the nite.

ETA: I just checked and the episode will be repeated at 1:00 AM. Anyone in the Philly area, you can catch it then on WPVI channel 6 ABC.

I'm watching it right now. I have learned a few things to help get myself out of the hole I am in. I am planning on paying off my two smallest cards first and then working on the rest of my debt. I know I can do it. It will just take a bit of work on my part. I am even going to get a second job to lower my debt faster.

They're running it again here right now actually. I missed the first few episodes and was really upset about it.

I can't believe the Bradleys spent $700 a week eating out!!!! Thats just crazy!

I believe she said that she would pick things up at the gas station when she got gas. She also didn't say that she never went to the grocery store....she just never bought enough that she needed a cart.

Anyone who doesn't own regular dishes, silverware, glasses or pots/pans makes it believable that she wouldn't need to go to the grocery store....not to mention spending $700/week on food :sad2:

I'm glad they showed the 3rd family. They seem the most normal and willing.

I wonder if the reason we didn't see the Eggleston's (?) until today was that they seemed to immediatly buy into getting out of debt at all costs. The last couple of shows have focused on the other two families cheating, denying, and trying to avoid painful spending cuts.

The Eggleston's seemed truly commited to correcting mistakes and starting over.

I still wonder if Lisa Bradley is for real. I can't even imagine someone near my age with two children who has no dishes, no kitchen appliances, and never having shopped with a cart. How was she raised? Grocery shopping with mom was a big weekly outing in my childhood. (I led a small town life- no mall)

I hear you loud and clear!

I wonder what she fed her children when they were toddlers.

Its not just a small town life... I used to love going to the supermarket with my mom. I would stand there and organize the cart so everything fit in perfectly. I still look forward to it (though not as much, since I'm paying the bill now :goodvibes )
