With a top load machine, do you like a traditional adjitator in the center or the infusor (nothing in the center of the drum) where the water pressure moves the clothes ?
I like the old style fill up with water top loader. Give me about 3 speeds on the wash, 2 speeds or so on the spin, and fill and temperature options and I'm good to go.

I heard the description of how careful you have to be with clothing placement to make a non-agitator model work well and immediately knew half the members of our house would ignore that and stuff it full every single time (with a YEAH I can fit more clothes in this thing!) An agitator quickly became a high priority. I expect by the next time we have to buy one, it will no longer be an option though. My parents recently purchased a new top loader and the sales person highly recommended they go with an agitator. He said that in machines without an agitator, the clothes stuffed in the center of the load don't get as clean or moved around as much. It made logical sense to me, and I don't think it was a sales tactic because the ones without the agitator tended to be more expensive. So, they went with the agitator and have been happy.
