We fly down to Orlando a day before our package with WDW starts. I have family in the area and we wanted to see them before our trip begins.

So initial thought was to reserve a hotel at the airport for the first night and then take Disney transportation to our resort the next morning. Is that something we can do?

Or should we just stay somewhere close to WDW so we can be closer the next day?

I am sure your family will take you to your hotel and drop you off. DME can take any guest back to the airport..but I am sure you need to sign up for it so they can schedule your pickup.

Sorry I mis-read, you are not stying with family. Yes, I think you can get a ride with DME to the resort the next day--with a hotel confirmation number. You can register with DME just don't use the yellow tags--or your luggage will picked up that first night and taken to Disney. Someone else will camoe a long with more details I am sure.

I would also like to hear the responses on this one. We have nephews in Kissimmie we would like to meet up with one day prior to our check in. We also need to stay in a hotel as there are to many of us to fit in a small apartment.

We always rent a car if we are visiting family and then just do a 1 night reservation close to our disney resort. The car allows us freedom to visit family and be able to stop by walmart and buy breakfast items, snacks and drinks. We then would check in at our disney hotel by 8 in the morning...sometimes room is reay sometimes it is not...but ifnwe are on dining plan we have tickets, credits etc. we then return our car to ccc or dolphin and usually at thenpark by rope drope.

So there would be a car rental return option on property? We had debated about renting the car for the afternoon and evening which is why we were going to stay at airport. Then it would be easy to return car then take Disney transportation to hotel. But if we can return rentsal car on property, that might be even better.
