You ladies (having seen your rings and PJs!) all seem to have impeccable taste, so I couldn't think of better people to ask!!

DBF and I have been looking at different rings, and had decided (we thought) on this one:

Clicky

But, I was looking at wedding magazines and some of the coloured engagment rings they had in there were so stunning, I looked at some for myself. My birthstone is emerald, and having searched for Emerald rings I promptly fell in love with

This One

What do you think?

My mum hates the idea! Lol. And I kinda think I might regret not having a diamond ring, but it still has diamonds in it and is beautiful......

I like both of them actually...

The e-ring included in the set is just "different" enough from a traditional solitaire.

The emerald ring is very pretty! The only thing I would caution about with this one is to see how it fits with a wedding band. My e-ring had to be re-set to fit next to a band (or have a custom band made).

As someone who has a "non-traditional" colored e-ring (also my birth stone), I do sometimes miss not having the traditional diamond solitaire. I purposely never bought myself diamond jewelry because I figured I would have my e-ring. Didn't work out that way. In reality, the reasons my DH chose the ring he bought make it that much more valuable to me. I wouldn't change my e-ring for any diamond!;)

Thank you for your feedback!!

I'm goona go try it on, and think I will givie it a try with a wedding band like the one with the first pic...

I almost typed 'with my ring' then - so I think perhaps my mind is too set on the diamond one, but until I have tried them on I guess I wont know!

As a fellow May baby, I have to say I like the diamond ring better. I love emeralds, but the color of that one seems off - prolly the monitor. It's a beautiful ring, but I like the diamond one better.

Thanks MegKate...:)

I think I'll be going for diamonds too...maybe I'll get an emerald another time, lol!

Eeee, how can you tell if it's off color?? See I don't know these things!!!

The color of emerald that most people have is:

That is a mined authentic emerald - most emeralds have inclusions in them.

A man made emerald, while still beautiful looks like:

Note how it's a bit more bluish-green and flawless. Both gems are beautiful in their own way. But an authentic emerald is the first one.

HTH! :goodvibes

Actually this is what I thought the ring was before I saw it was emerald. I thought it was Apatite

I love them both, and they are both unique. Perhaps you could compromise, and get the first ring and then get a band that has some emeralds in it?

I love that my engagment ring is special and looks like no one elses, it makes it feel more special to me, but it is a diamond. I would love some color in my wedding band.

Honestly you cant go wrong with either ring, they are both stunning, but the first one says "engagement" ring more than the emerald. When creepy men look at your hand to see if your taken, they might get confused by the emerald, and hit on you anyway. :scared1: lol

Hahaha - no creepy men thank you!! :rotfl:

That apatite is such a lovely colour!!!! :)

I've never heard of it though.

I think maybe that emerald is a man made one then? Kinda puts me off it...:(

I love the apatite - I've been wanting a ring made out of it - I think it's a relatively new gem or something.

Either of the rings will be beautiful - just remember about the creepy men!! :lmao:

They are both beautiful but I think I like the diamond one better! :goodvibes

Both of them are very pretty but I am definitely partial towards the diamond one!!

The diamond one is GORGEOUS! Maybe you can get the emerald ring for your right hand? That way you can have both! ;)

Well girls seems like you've all confirmed my suspicions:

I just have to wear diamonds! :rotfl:

Might be able to sneak the emerald as next xmas or birthday. :)

I wanted to tell you that I absolutey fell in love with the aquamarine stone. I had this whole plan I wanted it to be my something blue at my wedding. I also wanted to get married in March cuz it's the birthstone for that month and the weather isn't too bad down in Disney either. Plus I like it cuz it's different. Well anyways I ended up getting just that and my wedding band is diamonds. The diamonds on the band really make the blue in the aquamarine pop! Here's a pic of both.

Absolutely gorgeous! :worship:

I would go with the diamond even though both rings are very pretty. For a while before we were engaged and I was hinting to Robert that I wanted a yellow canary diamond because I thought it was so unique. I changed my mind and I am so glad I did because it was really trendy and I don't like the idea anymore and I would have been stuck. Like the saying goes, diamonds are forever!

I've got to say, I don't really like diamonds that much. Why is my engagement ring diamonds then?? Because I freak out if my jewellery doesn't match my clothes! :lmao: Hence the reason a clear stone was the best option.... I am aware I am very odd for thinking this way!

I saw a fantastic blue diamond ring that loved, and an amazing Emerald Solitaire ring, but I realised these wouldn't match everything I ever wore, and I want to wear my engagement ring forever, so it seemed a sensible option...

Having said all this, my Mum has a Sapphire engagement ring and she adores it and isn't bothered what she wears it with....

Just thought I'd throw that idea out there incase you're like me and panic about things matching your clothes (Can you imagine my reaction when I realised I'd ordered two pairs of green glasses a while ago?!)...

As long as it feels like the right ring though, you'll know.... Regardless of anything else! ;)
