DH & I are going to WDW 9/30 to 10/7. When we return i will be going off the pill and we will be trying to start our family probably in December. I am very healthy, just went to OBGYN and everything is good...so, here's my question. Would you buy stuff at WDW before even being pregnant. i am completely torn right now. I know that we won't be able to go back before we have the baby, so that would be my one chance to get some stuff at the parks. your opinions please...Thanks... :)

Some people are superstitious about this kind of thing. But I'm not. I would pick up a thing or two, but don't go wild! It will be hard to buy since you don't know what season your baby will be born in. Stick to gender neutral purchases. And buy bigger sizes (3-6 months), because most babies don't wear the tiny ones very long. Maybe stick to a hat, bib, that kind of thing.

Among other things, DH and I bought a Thumper hat at the Disney Store before we got PG with Hannah. We called her Thumper (after hearing her heart beat) the whole time I was PG. We even traded our Honda Civic for a minivan in anticipation of being parents.

Did your doctor recommend you start taking Folic Acid? You should be taking it now to prevent some birth defects.

Good luck!

Go ahead and buy what you want. I bought baby clothes before I was pregnant with this little guy because I knew we were going to start trying soon. We got pregnant during the first cycle we tried.

Yes she did...i have actually started taking Women's One a Day vitamin. she said i need to take 400 mcl of folic acid daily. that's what this vitamin contains, so i am good to go. i figure once i go off the pill i am going to probably start prenatal vitamins. i am so excited!!! i can't wait...

i even figured out how i am going to do the nursery...i am going to get a disney paint from Home Depot (baby roo) and i am going to paint little mickey heads (you know the 3 circles) in all pastel colors around the room. i really can't wait!!! :)

Thank you...

Would I buy things, you bet! I saw the cutest baby things a WoD. The only thing I did not prebuy was ears. I waited for my kids to "buy" their own. Good Luck!

NO!!!

Now if you were saying you were going to start a family in five years, I'd say go ahead... but if you would come back and try right away, anything that you buy this trip would be associated with this baby & this baby might not be this baby anytime soon...

I'm very superstitious this way, I wouldn't do it no way.... Maybe you could go back when you're in your sixth or seven month of pregnancy?

I say get them and come back with a "litte souveneir!!

I'd buy some stuff. I bought the baby spoon that matched our good silverware pattern because everyone at the table should have flatware that matched. :thumbsup2

The fact that we finally decided that we didn't want to do the prenancy thing and that we really wanted to adopt doesn't take away the fact that we have a beautiful little Reed & Barton "jelly spoon" since our kids were 5 and 6 when we adopted them.

The stuff you buy now will always be "the first _______ that we ever bought for you."

Congratulations on your decision to start your family!

Why wait until you get back to go off the pill? I'd go off before going, myself. :)

If it were me, I'd wait, but maybe make a list of things you'd like to call and order from Disney merchandising.

I keep thinking "what if something happens?". Please don't hate me...it's just the idea that keeps crossing my mind.

I'd buy the stuff, and in fact, I am doing the very same thing- just a couple of months ahead of you! Dh and I are going in May, and I am already off my birth control to regulate my cycles, but we'll start trying once we get back from our trip, and you BET I'm going to buy stuff when I'm down there!!

We have already bought quite a few things for our baby-to-be!! Including his/her first book and a little Star Wars outfit (DH got it for me as a Christmas present- he LOVES Star Wars).

Good luck!!

Me too! Any chance you may be ovulating during the trip? ;)

I would. DH and I started Trying in February after coming off the pill in December. We were in NYC during the holiday's and they had the best baby Christmas outfits on clearance. I did buy a few. Well, we are on month three and no baby yet, so this month our baby would be due between Christmas and New Years, obviously too late for the cute Christmas clothes. I am not disappointed. My BF is due in July and another in September. Since I bought 3-6 months hopefully one of them can wear them.

DH and I were on a cruise last week (my 'fertile' week for April). We are very hopefull this time. I bought a little jumper from one of the islands in red. We also bought a jumper from Senior Frogs for a friend who just had a boy. I think it really depends on your thoughts about it.

I would if I were in your exact shoes though!

I am on the pill, so i don't ovulate...i was thinking about going off before our trip, but i don't want to have my period while in humid Florida...i don't want any worries or pressures this trip. i want to relax and enjoy myself, especially since this will be our last trip to WDW without little ones... :)

I would buy things if I feel in love with them, and as someone else has said, you can write down item numbers (and take digital pictures) of things you like and order them by phone latter.

Good luck and have fun on your trip.

OK, I'll be the odd ball. I went off the pill in July of 2004 (I got the "all clear", as well). I went to WDW in September of 2004. I bought some cute things for my future baby.

I recently cut them all up and tossed them out when I miscarried my twins after IVF #2. I couldn't stand to look at the stuff during IVF #3.

You will have plenty of time to buy stuff....even if it's not directly from WDW, you will be able to find loads of cute Disney baby stuff when you're pregnant.

I am so sorry to read this. :guilty:

I agree about not buying anything. DH and I have been unsuccessful with getting pregnant for almost 7 years (despite getting checked out "fine"). I have never purchased anything and I'm personally glad that I didn't have to do what AllyandJack did. :grouphug:

I lean more towards no, but it may be hard to resist some of those cute baby things!

DH, and I plan to start trying next month, and when we were on our trip last Sept/Oct, I thought about it, but decided against it. I just have this fear of doing what AllyandJack did, so I didn't want to "curse" us. And I am not superstitious at all; I'm not sure I can explain the feeling.

But, last month we did buy a classic pooh crib set on sale. I put it in the back of DH's closet, b/c I don't want to even look at it until everything is "sure", which might not be until the baby is born!

Good luck, and have fun on your trip!

I think you should do what feels right. I have purchased a few Eeyore outfits for my future children, and I am not planning to start a family for a few years. Good luck with whatever you decide :)

Allyandjack, I am very sorry for your loss :(
