I know these two moderates have different themes, but besides the ground and exterior buildings.... just curious which one you like more based on the rooms, pools, amenities and food options!!

THANKS!! :surfweb:

CSR has best pool/silde combo of all the mods. It has terrific transportation (not shared) and food options. As far as amenities, CSR is heads above POR. It has a spa, gym, salon, tanning beds, steam room, full menu room service, a marina and more. CSR hands down.

You need to find Buzz! He's got ALL the information you need on the CSR. There's lots of pictures posted in his links too.

Come on Buzz, help this poster out!

I'm one of the people that finds it really hard to choose which moderate I liked the best. They were all so VERY special. The POR we absolutely loved, the walking paths, so beautiful, we also liked that it has a few different pools so didn't feel crowded. The grounds are so beautiful. It has a fabulous boat that you take over to downtown Disney. You can also go over and ride a surrey or walk along the river to POFQ and use their pool. Very genteel feeling, southern Belle, old south, beautiful. Southern gorgeous landscaping, trees, plants that you find in the south, or go over to the bayou where we stay. We love this. CSR has more southwest landscaping, plants, cactus, beautiful.. Now CSR has hands down the very very very best pool, better than a lot of the deluxes IMO (except for YC/BC) just our opinion. CSR also is a really beautiful resort, southwestern decor, and nice for walking the grounds or taking surreys (which we really like). It has a wonderful food market and other amenities that some others don't have, which I can't comment bc we didn't get a chance to use. We're planning a last minute trip in December and even my husband can't choose which resort! We decide that we're going to just alternate the moderates!

DH and I are thinking about a weekend( ) at CSR in December...We've stayed at CBR and LOVE the grounds, pool and rooms, but never at CSR. I was looking on the resort boards for any info ya'll have on CRS. I know pretty much all resorts have the Disney Magic:wizard: but would like to hear about it from ya'll. :goodvibes
Thanks,
Jen

While I love the multifood court/them pools, landscaping, theming, and all there is to do at POR and POFQ, (we had a quiet exp at POFQ and a busy one at POR) - I have to say -----

CSR is where I am want to be NEXT visit. The Dig site is a better pool/hot tub/play area for my family - love the volley ball games - slide is GREAT - the quiet pools are just as available and quiet as they are at POR, and the food court better for us as well (more choices) -- both resorts are spread out (CSR runs shuttles! TAXI!).

My children are older and want the jaguar slide - but if I had young (7 and under) children and could stay in any room I wanted - I would go to POFQ and position myself on the ground floor, near the hot tub/food court/theme pool for sure!

And that is my nickles worth of input!

I agree with that one, if we were bringing older kids would most likely choose the CSR! :thumbsup2

We've stayed at both and POR is nice, BUT CSR is (IMO) the very best moderate!!! In fact, and don't think I'm nuts, I would choose CSR over BC after our stay at BC last August. For all the reasons already listed, CSR is it!!!

I loved POR...........I didn't like the rooms or the food court at CSR. Didn't use the pool at CSR - it was way too far to walk from our room but really enjoyed the POR main pool. I preferred the overall theme at POR....southwest just isn't my style.

I' ve never stayed at CSR. so my opinon probably doesn't count.

I like POR better, CSR does not click to me. It looks cheap...( sorry I cannot find another word to describe)

But I think it is ultimately personal taste. Some people prefer POP over GF.
So, trust your instinct and ask your family member how they feel about each resorts. There are a ton of picture of each resorts available on internet.

Amenity, transportation, food may be in factor but these items are also hit and miss at any resorts. Some people reports POR bus is awful but other said no problem. Some people loves CSR pool but other said they prefer POP pool.

The planning time is the fun time, so enjoy your plannning! :goodvibes

We stayed at POR last September and CSR this August. My preference is POR. It just feels more "Disney" to me. I thought it was a much prettier resort and the rooms were nicer. My kids (3 and 5 now) loved the water slides at both pools. We didn't have any problems with the buses at either hotel. I love that you can take a boat to Downtown Disney from POR. Also love the carriage rides (even if you don't ride, they just add to the POR experience). POR gets my vote!

Both are great resorts and its all going to come down to what you like better. I loved them both but POR has the edge in this one...
Why I didnt like CSR- We had a great room which was close to the main building but the pool was waaaaaaaaaaaaayyyyyyy across the lake...I thought the walk to the pool in CSR was crazy and waiting for a golf cart to come by was insane. I liked the Pepper market but had a bad experience there one morning. I havent gave up on this resort because it is beautiful and the cm's were sweet but POR has my vote. Everything & anything was perfect for us.

I recommend CSR. We had a great time during our trip over the summer. Everything was perfect and the transportation is some of the best I've experienced at WDW.

We have stayed at both. POR 2x and CSR 1x. If I had to choose a mod again, I would choose CSR. The reason? Buses, buses, and buses!

Both resorts are pretty. :)
FOOD: POR's food court, to me, was a little easier to deal with than the Pepper Market. Seriously, I am not a fan of either, though. I used to like POR's food court back in '97, but in 2004, their grilling staff needed lessons in customer service and I could say the same about certain areas of Pepper Market when we were there last month. PM has more options as far as food choices, I believe.
SIZE: CSR is definitly more spread out than POR, so that is a bummer. It is quite a hike from Casita's to the Dig site, so be prepared for that. I would not look forward to that aspect of it, but if it is not real hot or you are not really tired, it can be a pleasant walk. Other than that, it is looooooooong. POR, to me, was not as long of a walk.
ROOMS: Both are about the same, since they are mods. I like the CSR decor better. Cheerier, brighter. I do not like the pedestal sinks at POR. I like the sinks at CSR, more counter space. Plus CSR is newer, so I liked that too.
POOLS: CSR wins imo. Too bad their pool was like bath water, but that can be said for all Disney pools in the heat of August. It's just that the pool at CSR can accomodate more people and there are empty chairs to sit on, unlike many resort pools. I did like PORs quiet pool a bit better because it was easier to figure out the depths, but they were smaller than CSR's quiet pools, I believe.
TRANSPORTATION: This was the biggie. This is why I will not return to POR. I do not like waiting an hour two days in a row to get to MK during slow season. I do not like standing in a mile long line at MK to get back to POR, waiting for multiple buses before we can get on one, and then standing room only all the way back to the resort. When Disney recognizes that POR is a huge resort in desperate need of more buses to accomodate the masses, I may return, because I did enjoy everything else about it. CSR bus service was incredible. I was very happy with it. Minimal waits at the resort and minimal waits at the parks. :cloud9:
CSR IS a convention resort, though, so you might want to check to see if there are any huge conventions at CSR during your stay. This didn't bother us, nor did it affect us, but we left just before the start of a large convention, and I am not sure how this worked out for guests, because people were flooding into CSR to check in during our last days.
I think mods are a nice bargain and I would stay at any of them, but it will be CSR for us until changes are made at the other mods. :) tink

We have stayed at both and loved both for different reasons. We had a car at POR so I can't comment on their busses but the busses at CSR were awesome. The pool area at CSR is far superior IMO because for my kids ages (10&12) there is more to do...beach volleyball, table tennis, arcade and a much bigger slide and huge hot tub. We stayed in the Cabanas which is close to everything so walking distance wasn't an issue for us. The rooms are the same at both resorts, just different theming and both food courts were fine although CSR seemed to have more selection. POR has the boat to DTD which is really nice. Sorry...not helping much am I...I love them both!
