Here's my worthless opinion on the lot:
Liberty Tree Tavern - Lunch ☺☺☺☺
The best lunch at Magic Kingdom. We love to have a relaxing lunch here midday. There is a full menu complete with crab cakes and sinful desserts. Ill put the food quality up against any non-signature resort restaurant on property. The service is very good at lunch, more like a bistro than a theme park "in-and-out" joint.
Liberty Tree Tavern - Character Dinner (for now) ☺☺☺☻
Served family style, this is a relaxing way to meet the characters. They come around while you eat and you won't miss them because you're up fighting buffet lines. However, the characters will only be appearing through the end of the year so starting in January, it's just a family style restaurant. The food is good, basically Thanksgiving fare. There are plenty of choices for everyone. The service isn't as good at dinner; it's like they just don't try as hard when you don't "order". Side note: If someone in the family is not interested in dining there, (say if mom and dad are going to California Grill later), you can opt out of the food for $5 per non-diner.
Sci-Fi Dine-In ☺
Average, boring, and overpriced food served in an interesting and fun atmosphere. Its ok to come around midday for a light lunch, take in the surroundings, have a milkshake (which they do well) and watch a few clips of The 50 Woman and Creature from the Black Lagoon. I highly recommend against making this a dinner spot. There are so many much better restaurants at Disney.
Raglan Road ☺☺☻
Three things come to mind when I think about Raglan Road: loud, inconsistent, and loud. Always, I find the live music to be entirely too loud. I dont mean jyms getting old loud, I mean Metallica is like dude, lets go someplace else. In my three trips to Raglan Road, Ive found entirely different problems with the food and service. First let me say, the food and service can be excellent. However for me, food temperatures, portion size, accuracy, timeliness, incorrect bills, misquoted prices, its been one thing after another. Sure, theres plenty of Guinness, a pretty dancer, and some of the food is quite good. The problem is, you never know which Raglan Road youre going to get
the good one or the one in need of a week with Gordon Ramsay. It's very possible to have a great meal at RR, but it's just as possible that you'll waste a precious Disney meal slot. As for kids, the child menu is pretty eclectic and better than the standard kid's fare. They can certainly be as loud as they want because you can't hear them over the entertainment anyway.
Capn Jacks ☺☺☺
The food that they offer here is really good and the portion size is acceptable. They also offer lobster on the Dining Plan so thats a plus. With both Manhattan and New England clam chowders, along with top shelf crab cakes, the appetizers are worthy of any seaside bistro. My main gripe is the severely limited entrée selection. Six, count em six entrées are available for selection, not exactly an anthology of the sea. The kids menu is nothing special but a last check, they got three courses for under eight dollars.
