Opinions on Super Brownie Pan As Seen on TV

I've been doing the plastic knife thing for years, and it works well. Space is at a premium in our kitchen, so a novelty pan like the one the OP mentions wouldn't be really practical for us (though my DD13 might love it too :)). However, as impractical as it is for the same reason...that zigzag pan is very tempting, because we are constantly fighting over the corners and edges of the brownie batches in our house!!

It's funny how so many kids want this. My DD14 flipped out when she first saw it. Judging by the reviews, looks like I can safely add it to the list!

I'm glad to see so many kids expressing an interest too! My DD didn't say she wanted it. I just saw it and thought she would really like it. When she has friends over they always make brownies! So I am glad that other tween/teens want it. That makes me think my DD will like it too.

That is funny. I only really like the soft inner parts of the brownies! So that zig zag pan is not for me. Actually, I think the Super Brownie pan makes too much crust anyway. But what I do for DD!

Just a question about doing the muffin pan....can you use the muffin papers or will that affect the baking?

Just had brownies made in that pan (from WM) by a 13 YO whose grandfather bought it for her that day. Worked great and she was thrilled!

The only pan I use to make brownies is a Square 9X9 stoneware pan by Pampered Chef!! It works perfectly! I also use it for cornbread too!!:goodvibes

I was thinking of getting the same thing for my DD13. She loves to bake and even asked for a pink blender for christmas (where the heck would I get a pink blender and one that doesn't cost a fortune).

JCPenney.com has a pink Cooks brand hand mixer for 29.99. I bet she would love it!

I work at BB&B and honestly thought these pans were so stupid. How hard is it to cut brownies :confused3 We got a ton of them in though, and they sold like hot cakes. We are sold out and not sure if we will get more in before Christmas.....so a lot of people are buying them! Just not something I see a need for, but what do I know :rotfl:

This is why I, also, have been baking brownies in my muffin pans for the last 25 years or so. DH would only eat the corners and the centers were wasted! With the muffin pan, every brownie is like a corner. Of course, this method won't work for those that actually like the centers.

I have this pan and agree it does work well. You do have to spray the insert well with cooking spray. Only thing is it's kind of a pain to clean the insert. I just got the larger size pan for a gift, but haven't tried it yet. The instructions for that one say to use the insert to cut the brownies, cake, etc after it's cooked instead of baking it in the batter. Don't know why it's different for the larger pan.

What a great idea for your DD for Christmas. I rarely make brownie but my sister loves brownies, so maybe I should get her one of these.

My MIL bought one of these pans and made brownies with it this weekend. They seemed to turn out really well.

how do the edges of the brownies come out with this pan?
They come out with a firmer edge than a "middle piece" but I don't think they're quite as firm as true edges/corners. I like the edge pieces best (but not the corners. Those are *too* crunchy.) I thought they were delicious.

I thought it was funny that my MIL bought the pan at all. My FIL *only* likes the middle pieces, and this pan turned every piece into an edge piece!

thanks for your input...looks like I will have to find a deal on the zigzag pan. DD is looking for a true edge ;)

Hee hee...I am a "middle piece" person. :) But then again, I am anal about cutting all the pieces evenly! I still want this cutting pan! :P

Dang you all! I just went to lakeside and picked up 3, something not even on my radar before has now become the perfect gift for 2 people on my list (and one for myself of course). :rolleyes1

I saw those, for those of us who like the "edges" brownies this would be really great. However I can't commit to a one shot kitchen contraption, and I'm out of room...but I think your DD would love it.

My hard to shop for MIL mentioned that she wanted one of these when we were visiting this summer. I right away decided it would be a good Christmas gift for her:) I got her's at Michael's craft store with the 50% off coupon last week, so it was only $10:cool1:

Ohh! I didn't know Michaels carried these! That is what I am going to do too! I was planning on waiting until Walgreens had a $5 off $25 purchase coupon in the paper!

I don't really think its a one shot kitchen contraption. You can use it as a regular baking pan without the insert.
