If you have a chance to see sorcery in the sky, see it! This show is not presented very often any more, and is one of the prettiest (IMO) fireworks displays at WDW. Another beautiful display is the special Fantasy in the Sky presentation when they use perimeter shells (usually for private ticket nghts, like MVMCP).
Wow, are they REALLY doing Sorcery in the Sky again? If so, I agree that it's a great show, with a fun movie music score. Mostly it's just a great fireworks show, but (at least in the past) it features a big blow-up Mickey Sorceror on top of the Chinese Theater.
The MK show is a must-see, for the castle foreground if nothing else, but if you have seen the MK show before, or have another chance to see it, definitely try to catch Sorcery in the Sky at MGM.
beautiful. We were there last 4th and saw it and the hat was a wonderful backdrop to the beautiful fireworks. Stand closer to the front of the entrance as the closer you get the harder it is to see the fireworks. It is definately worth seeing. It was amazing.
We saw this many times years ago and LOVED it! If they are doing it again, it is well worth the time to see it. We once had a room at the Dolphin (top floor-balcony) and we could see it from our room every night. We'd shut out the lights and watch....just magical from almost anywhere you can see it!
I would give anything to see that again. It is the best fireworks Disney has ever put on.
I found a great place to view it by accident many years ago. I was waiting in line for a bottle of water at the little stand that's right on the lake (can't remember the name of the place) and just as I got the water and turned around to head to the front of the GMR, the show started. I filmed it from that spot and it was just about perfect. MGM was never a great venue for showing fireworks. Too many trees. But at that point in time, that was a great spot. I can't vouch for how much obstruction you'll have with the foliage now as I'm sure the trees are bigger then they were six or seven years ago.
Do not miss this show! You'll be shaking your head and wondering why they don't put it on all the time when it's over.
Not sure how large your party is but it might be worth the price of a cab ride to try to see both if they are only doing them on the one night. See Sorcery and then leave DS, catch a cab and go the MK....there might even be a bus that goes directly to the MK but it would take longer. I sure would have a hard time deciding between these two as I love them both!
We will also be there for the 4th and have never seen Socery in the Sky. I think I have decided to see it this time as Spectro Magic is scheduled for 3 other nights that we are there.
