Hey everyone,

I wanted to ask your opinions on a ring. I currently have my engagement ring in a solitaire platinum setting, and I love it! However, as the time draws close to get my wedding band, for which I would get a diamond eternity band, I am beginning to wonder if I want a more fancy setting (for which I would get a simple band), or whether I want to stick with the simple setting, and a gorgeous band. Below is my current ring, and the wedding band I would get with it:

I have to admit, I love love love this. However, the wedding band is costing quite a bit, and I just want to make 100% sure before DF purchases it.

Below is the setting I am considering getting my diamond reset in. *Note* this is NOT my hand. ;)

With the simple band:

My only problem with the new option is that I might get sick of it after awhile, and it has a more "bubblegum ring" appearance I could possibly see, while my ring currently is more of a classic look.

Anyway, I am happy to have ANY ring, but I would love to hear opinions!:goodvibes

I prefer the "classic" you have now. Both are pretty but I think the first one is timeless. Just my 2 cents.:thumbsup2

I agree, plus it has the sentimentality of being your original. I think the band is gorgeous. :cloud9:

I agree, while both rings are absolutely beautiful, I would hate you to lose the sentimental value of the original engagement ring you were given. And if you really love the style of the other ring, you could always get a version of it down the road as an anniversary ring to wear on your other hand!

I was in the same boat. DF bought me a princess cut solitaire (which I really did love), but I wasn't crazy about the bands we found to go with it. I was looking at an enhancer as my wedding band, but the quality of the diamonds weren't the same as my solitaire. We went to a loose diamond sale at Kay Jewelers. They had over 800 custom pieces, and they were beautiful. They took my diamond out of the original setting, and within 1 hour had it reset in a custom setting. It is absolutely beautiful. And, I got to watch the man set it. The only thing now is that I won't have seperate engagement rings and wedding bands, just one piece, but I love it. And I got to keep my original setting in case I ever want to reset it again.

I agree with the other gals and I personally don't care for the new setting but you should do what makes you happy. I think that the eternity band would look fabulous with your solitaire...:thumbsup2

I REALLY love your solitaire and the eternity band! Ok, so I'm biased about the solitaire b/c I have a 4 prong round, too... ;)

The great thing is that you can get any kind of band you want with it. Mine is more than twice the thickness of the e-ring and has mickey. They totally don't match, lol.

2 of my cousins have eternity bands with their solitaires. I've always loved that look. It's timeless and you just can't go wrong with it! :)

good luck with your decision!

For you wedding ban have you tried on a round channel set ring. The only reason why I suggest this, I have a ring that looks similar to your and I paired it with the channel, it looks simple and elegant, but with the eternity band I have heard stories of the diamonds falling out. Because they do go all around, and when you are working or what ever you can slam you hand and knock some out. But I guess that is what the warranty is for. I would pick something that you love, that is my #1 rule when buying jewelry; I have to love it! If you are afraid that you will get tired of the ring you are thinking of, then that is your sign that it might not be the right one for you. I would stick to the classic style and remember when an anniversary or holiday comes up you can always trade up or just buy another band to stack them! That is what presents are for!:rotfl: Hope this helps!

Personally, I love the solitaire... it is just gorgeous, elegant, and as others have mentioned, timeless :thumbsup2

I agree with this. I love the style of the ring you are considering - but I could never swap my engagement ring for a different setting. So, I put DH on notice that for an anniversary down the road, I want a ring in that style so I can have a 'right hand ring' ;)

I LOVE your original set. It is beautiful!!!! I wouldn't change it for anything--but you need to do what makes you happy, because you will be the one wearing it forever.

I'm all about simple and your original setting is gorgeous - I wouldn't change it. Either of those eternity bands would make a lovely wedding band with your original ring.

Thank you all so much for your sweet replies! I hope it does not sound like I am not sentimental! I am very much so! When we picked out my ring (my fiancee and I did it together), we had it set in something simple knowing that I might get a fancier setting later on. (He bought the diamond loose). However, I have really grown to love my classic setting, and have gotten many compliments on it as well. I really love the idea of getting another ring later on for my right hand as an "anniversary ring." ;) I hope DF likes the idea, too!:lmao: Anyway, I think I will stick with my original ring, and get the eternity band. I too am worried about knocking diamonds out, but I am very good with jewelery, and we will take out some kind of insurance on it as well.

Again, thank you for all of your help and ideas!:goodvibes

One last thing to consider before getting the eternity band (only because I've seen it happen). If you have kids down the road, or for whatever reason your finger changes sizes, there's almost no chance that they can resize the eternity band. The second option you posted looks to be the Ritani endless love collection?? The nice thing about that "eternity" band is that they've left a small space for sizing later. The majority of people do end up needing rings sized at some point in their marriage. Just something to think about - what if you did 2 of the Ritani bands - one on either side? It's a growing trend!! HTH!
