We will be at Disneyland the week Halloweentown opens (9/13-17).
We will also be in Orlando 9/30-10/8.
Crazy, I know. We have family in both places so go to Orlando for Food & Wine every year anyway.

Question is, what are your thoughts about Halloween at each? I love the way Disneyland just blows it out. It is fantastic. How about Orlando? Never beent here for that.

Would love your thoughts and ideas. Thanks!

I've done both and I'd say WDW MSSNHP is better than the one we went to at DCA. It seemed like there was more to do at WDW and the fireworks were great.

I haven't been to the Halloween Party since they moved it over to DL instead of DCA so maybe they're a little closer in what they offer between DL & WDW now.

We going to the MNSSHP this year before our cruise.:goodvibes

I did the Halloween party at Disneyland last year with 3 teenagers. None of us thought it was worth paying extra for. The fireworks were nice. Most of the rides weren't open.

I'd give it to DL. While the parade is bigger at MK. DL has Space and HM layovers. Fireworks are now the same since it moved back to DL.

You will just catch the layovers in DL so plan for long lines on those, but they are must sees if you haven't before.

Of course if you are thinking parties you will only have a chance for that in MK. And the parties are when the special fireworks and parades run.

I went to one last year and everything I went to ride was open. What was closed?

Thank you!
Nothing tops Haunted Mansion and Space Mountain at Halloween @ Disneyland! I'm so psyched to be there for opening weekend.

Ended up buying Halloween party tickets for WDW for the week we are there. It will be fun seeing all the characters dressed up for Halloween. Tickets were more than for Disneyland though!! Boo to that.

Disneyland's Halloween Party is *almost* just as good as DisneyWorld's. I say *almost* because I really wish Disneyland had it's own "Boo to You" parade complete with The Headless Horseman--so cool. Some day, I hope...

With my #1 and really only complaint being stated, I will say that I had a blast at last year's party so much so that we went twice. The "Hallowishes" fireworks are different. Jack Skellington hosts the one in Disneyland, and I thought that was pretty fun since it goes along with the whole "Nightmare Before Christmas" overlay at Haunted Mansion. Seeing Zero fly around the castle was pretty neat too.

On Tuesday night most rides were walk-ons, but Friday was definitely more crowded which is not surprising. Still, the crowds were manageable. We got tons of candy and saw tons of great costumes. We had a great time and may be able to squeeze in a chance to go on the first night it opens this year. And if I didn't think it could hold a candle to MNSSHP, I wouldn't waste my money, but I really think it's worth it. Lots of fun!

Oh, and one thing that was different than DisneyWorld's (if I'm not mistaken) is that you can get a picture with Captain Jack Sparrow at the party which you can't in Florida. (Someone correct me if I'm wrong. I read so much on the boards I get my info confused a lot.)
