Anyone ever been to the Plaza Restaurant on Main Street?

We had lunch there during our first day at the MK during our stay last August, an 11:30 ressie.

If I have to generalize, the experience overall (food, service, atmosphere) was somewhere between a B and a B+. We arrived about five minutes early for our ressie, and were seated a little after 11:30 (despite the fact the restaurant was at best one third full at the time, the CMs didn't seem to be in any particular rush to get us or others seated).

The place has that generic Main Street U.S.A. "turn of the century" feel, and the menu is a basic range of standard sandwiches (hamburgers, clubs, reubens, etc.) I had the reuben, with a side of german potato salad. Both were good. Service was like that at just about every other table service restaurant I've ever eaten at in a Disney Park: friendly but slightly on the slow side (we didn't get out of there until almost 12:30).

Looking back, the Plaza was a nice respite from the crowds on a hot summer day, but it certainly didn't make the cut to get on my family's short list of favorites for return visits.

I usually make an ADR here for lunch.
I have found it to be a nice, cool break on a hot summer day. Very good sandwiches and awesome shakes!!!! A relaxing light meal out of the hustle and bustle and horrid heat of summer!

We love the Plaza! We eat lunch here at least once during each visit. Good sandwiches in the $10 range that come with either german potato salad or fries. They also serve salads and soup. They just recently changed their veggie sandwich which pleased my DD. She wasn't thrilled with their last offering. Save room for dessert as their sundaes are the best part of the meal. Highly recommend the banana split or the brownie sundae (we substitute chocolate ice cream for the vanilla).
Service is slow especially if you get Dot. She doesn't seem to be a very happy camper. Most of the other servers are very friendly and efficient.

We loved The Plaza! I had the cheeseburger and chocolate shake...Mmmmm! It was great to get out of the heat and enjoy the peace and quiet of the restaurant! I'd make another trip there whenever we get to go again!

We always make a stop at the Plaza. It's a nice respite from the heat and crowds. Food is always good and the shakes are great.

Very good turkery sandwich, it is served on a multigrain bread. The shake was really good too. My kids had the mini hamburgers, & they loved them.

i love the plaza! my 'meat and potatoes' hubby isn't thrilled with it. great sandwiches and salads (i recall a strawberry salad that was great!) Perfect for lunch or a 'light' meal.

We are the minority on this one. The Plaza just doesn't do much for us. Overpriced for what you get, IMHO. The times we have eaten there, we have always walked away feeling we over paid for so-so food.
The last time I ate there I swore it would be my last because the hamburger was so grissley. blech
I think people who likes milkshakes and such would be happy here. And their soups are pretty good. Nice to be in A/C in the heat. Past that.... A last resort.
Sadly, many WDW park foods are slim pickin's for good eats anyway. The Plaza being considered good is just a prime example of that.

Like Luv2roam, I am not a big fan. It was just "ok". We did like their tomato soup. Seemed a bit overpriced -- but pretty typical of most of the park restr. Not a good use of table service if you have the dining plan.

I give the plaza a big If you are in a hurry, though, use your common sense and do a CS meal. Its quiet, calm, and air conditioned. The menu speaks for itself, I think its a wonderful way to break up a long, hot day

We loved it too. There were 7 of us & we all ordered different items & were very pleased. I had the chicken & strawberry salad - delicious!
Been there a couple of times & good service as well as good food.

We really like the Plaza. We first found it 2 trips ago and since then have made it a must twice during our stay. I love the hamburgers here. They load it up! I get cheddar, bacon, mushrooms & grilled onions. The don't charge you per topping either. Milkshakes are fabulous here! I also love the rootbeer here. Its really good fountain type and so good!
DH has had the reuben and loved that as well!

It is a good deal with the DDE card, you basically pay the same as a CS and have a chance to get out of the heat and relax for a moment.
