We are contemplating trying Ohana during our next vacation. What are your honest opinions? I read somewhere that the food tended to be dry. Have you found that to be the case?
Thanks in advance.

People seem to either LOVE it or NOT love it.
We are in the *not love it* group. It was the worst meal we have had @ WDW in a long time. The food was not good, the meats were dry and all tasted the same...smokey.., the noodles were gluey and the dumplings were dry as cardboard.
But for every person who doesn't enjoy it, you will find someone else who absolutely loved it.

For us, its a MUST DO every year. We've never had a bad meal (only dinner) and I've never noticed the meat was dry (besides, who could tell with all the wonderful sauces you can use anyway! ;) The bread pudding is also a favorite in my family!
Overall, the food has been great. The service hasn't always been up to par though. They seem to be overcrowded and that really stretches the servers short.
Best of luck with your choices. There are so many wonderful places to eat, that its hard to narrow it down to just a few! :thumbsup2

Ten years ago I would recommend Ohana for dinner without hestitation. Today, I would recommend Ohana Breakfast, but not the dinner. Lots of changes over the years with lots of 2nd chances without Ohana dinner being able to provide an average level of service. The food we found to be without life due to being prepared well in advance. Meats during our last three visit were over cooked. Steak option rarely available but the best of the meat options. Who want steak with your dessert? I would say if you have not tried it you should give the dinner a try if you have a desire to try it, since the server you are assigned, table location, and the person assigned to the grill determines your experience.

We were there a month ago, one of the best dinners we had(which is tough, several were good!). My 16 y.o sister(her first trip to Disney) was with us and it was her favorite meal of the trip and she still talks about it and when we were talking about going out to dinner here in NY and she says Awwe, I could really go for some Ohana right about now. LOL.

Anyways, me, DH & DS ate there this year and last and both times found the food to be excellent. My DH lives for those chicken wings and could easily get full off them. All the meat was excellent - we ate all but the pork. The dessert was to die for! We didnt find the service to be bad. It probably wasnt the best service of the trip, but it was decent. I think at any restaurant it is always a possibility the service wont be great. We had a not great experience at Tusker House breakfast that others will swear they love. You have to try it and gain your own opinion!

I am on the "love" side. It is one of my favorites and the warm banana bread pudding is my favorite. Maybe we are fortunate enough each time to have good tables near the walkway and near the grill station that we were always offered more food. We have reservations there next week, I will tell you if I still love it then.

The first time we went to Ohana was five years ago. We last ate there in July for dinner. It was okay. The salad was very good as well as the dipping sauces. I found that the meat was dry this time. I don't think it is on the top of my list of places to eat for next year. We basically went there so that my children could get up and dance. Since they have gotten older, they don't want to participate.

Anyway, we are going to try something different next July.

We are on the "ehhhh side". The atmosphere is lovely and very interactive. We had our first night at Disney there so it was a nice way to start our trip. The food was plentiful - but the quality was just ok. The meats were dry (but I like my meats dry - strange yes, but it works for me), the sauces were ok (nothing too special IMHO), the sides were ok (nothing that made me want more). Would we do it again? Maybe. I agree your position seated and server will add/detract from your experience. Our server was not the best, and our seats were near the main aisle. We could see bits and pieces of Wishes - which was lovely. If you do make an ADR, go in knowing the food may not be the best on property - but it will be a fun experience. ;)

we absoutely loved it. This was by far my DHs favorite. He said he would eat there every night if he could.

our meat was delicious. The broccoli and noodles were my favorite... oh and the salad! YUM!!!! My mouth is watering just thinking about it.

Unfortunately I am in the not love it group. I wanted so much to be in the love it group. We had a spectacular table, right at the window and had a beautiful view of the castle. Our server was very friendly. The bread they give you at the beginning of the meal and the dessert were both to die for. However, I found the meats to be overcooked and dry and the noodles were sticky and "gluey." One day I may try it again and hope for a better experience with the food.

My family and I LOVE Ohana for breakfast! We went there for the first time last year and are going back again this year. :cool1: I have never been for dinner though so I can't help there.

hi. we just ate there last week. the food was wonderful. I pigged out on the sticky wings and the noodles. All the food was great. THe chicken was the best meat.. well i just got hte chicken and the steak, and a few shrimp. The chicken was VERY moist and tender-perfect! We had a 9:55pm adr too. The food is worth it to go there! Our server was pretty good. He had a lot of tables and didnt hang around at all, not even long enough to ask for a straw.. really! He and another server were working two huge tables, so us two got the short end, but we got the food and it was delicious. I could just eat the wings. mmmm.

My wife and I are serious Disney foodies and we do not like Ohana. We reluctantly went back again last December at my sister's request and it was by far the worse meal of the trip...was as bad as the time we went before several years earlier.

We went there in June, and we thought the food was pretty good, but the service was soooo slow. We also thought it was very noisy. We're going to try Kona next trip - I'm hoping the service will be good along with the food!

I loved everything about it except the meat.... Bleh. Gross smoky, charcoal tasting stuff.

We have never eaten at O'hanas, and we currently have it booked for the first night of our honeymoon....Nothing upsets my FH more than paying for food he does not like! :lmao: We are total foodies!! Someone tell me, should we chance it??

If you're someone who prefers the signature type restaurants I would skip. If you're meat and potatoes/basic food type people then you'll probably like Ohana.
