Opinions about Ohana

We love it and have always had great food. I agree that the service can be lacking. The last 4 times or so, we've been going right when they open around 5:30. Servers seem less frazzled because all their tables aren't full right away. And we've commented that the meat has been GREAT the last few times. It's also nice because you get seated right away. It's the worst to arrive at 7 starving and then have to wait 20 min for your table!

We went to in 2008 and Loved it, will be back to Disney in August and will be returning to Ohana. Love, Love, Love the potstickers and shrimp.

We have never eaten at O'hanas, and we currently have it booked for the first night of our honeymoon....Nothing upsets my FH more than paying for food he does not like! :lmao: We are total foodies!! Someone tell me, should we chance it??

If you are a foodie, I'd skip it. And especially, not your 1st night of your honeymoon. The resturaunt in Morracco is beautiful & we loved the food. We do it at lunch & its way cheaper, but good. And the pastries in France are a must. Cat Cora has a resturaunt in the Boardwalk resort that has been getting amazing reviews. Or California Grill w/ the fireworks would be super romantic.

I hated breakfast and loved dinner. :confused3

Had no problem with dry food at dinner. Meat was tender, and, in fact, the beef was medium rare, which my SIL and MIL didn't appreciate, but the rest of us liked. Pot stickers, sticky wings, bread, veggies were all wonderful. The bread pudding is my second favorite in WDW (after Raglan Road).

Breakfast we found to be cold, probably because we were one of the last groups to have breakfast? I dunno.

I have this placed booked for dinner on our Magic Kingdom theme park day in March. We're also celebrating my mom's birthday (one teen and four adults -- I ordered a cake) -- The adults grew up going to the Polynesian way back in the 70s. I'm seeing really mixed reviews on the food here though. Food way back when at the Polynesian in my opinon was always good. Do you think I'd be better off booking the Kona Cafe instead?

I should add that three out of the five in our party are definately not foodies. They want quick service, like buffets and family style meals and don't want to wait too long for food and sit and linger too long.

Also, we are not on the Disney dining plan. We are staying offsite, but thought a nearby sit down meal for dinner would be a nice break on our Magic Kingdom park day, and we have so many fond memories of the Polynesian and this is a good excuse to get over there.

Hubby and I loooooove O'hana. It is a must do for us every trip. We are so bummed because we are planning a last minute trip in two weeks and cannot get reservations. Food is always awesome! Best part is the dessert YUMMY!!!!

I am glad to hear you had a great dinner at this late time because we have a 9:40 pm adr for our upcoming trip and have been worried about the food quality for such a late adr.

Just got back this morning from a 10 night trip and this was our favorite meal. All the adults enjoyed the food and the kids had a lot of fun. The dessert was the best of the entire trip. Even DH ate a bunch and he usually doesn't like desserts.

My parents went last year with my youngers sisters and had breakfast there. It was their worst meal/experience (they did at least two TS meals per day). They would not have tried it again if I hadn't already made the reservation.

Try it yourself. Everyone has different tastes. The only time I would recommend taking other people's advice is if everyone hates a place or everyone loves it. To tell you the truth you won't find many places that fall into either category.

Ohana breakfast is a MUST DO for us- although I will admit that we choose atmosphere over food. The food is awesome in our opinion- but we are not foodies! The atmosphere is one of our favorites!

Good luck in your decision!

Ohana's has been a source of MAJOR disappointment to me. My first 2 times going I thought I'd found the best place on earth. However, that was 6 and 5 years ago and every time since then, it has gone downhill. The last time we attended will be our last unless I get a report that they have fixed some of their problems. PRIMARILY - the kid fun. The last 2 times I have gone, during our entire dinner service, there was 1 event which took place. I got used to coconut races and hula lessons and more. This last time we had to ask when there would be entertainment and then we got a 5 minute song - that was it. SO, the main reason for us to go there was the fun - no longer exist. The food is always average and the service a bit frantic. Anyway, unfortunately, Disney has allowed this formally great venue to dwindle to an average albeit expensive alternative. That said, we still did enjoy the view of the fireworks from our dining table - hard to beat that.

Ohana is hands-down our favorite Disney Restaurant. We actually had two reservations at our last visit in August. The food is awesome!

Everyone's opinions are different, but my husband and I are also food and beverage conniseurs at Disney, and the three times we went to Ohana the meal was excellent. We've tried many other times to get reservations and have not been so lucky. We also love the lounge right outside of Ohana to get a few cocktails while you wait for your reservation. If you can get a table close to the grill that would be ideal.

Oh my..... I have noticed there are a lot of differences on the boards about Ohana. But everyone I have known that went in real life LOVE it. Me too. My family and I go every trip. It is awesome!

I was there the last week of September. We had an 8:40 reservation, saw the fireworks, had the singing guitar player, coconut races, birthday wishes and anniversary dances all in the span of time we were seated. Sorry that you missed out on your last trip.

Loved this place when I was a kid, but I went back last year and was mediocre. Loved the noodles, salad and bread. Disliked the service, which was slow and not very attentive. It seems to be very hit or miss.

People complain about the service. It can be inconsistent, but I have never had a horrendous experience. The food is tasty. I will sacrifice service for good food. Therefore, I love 'Ohana.

Honestly, I think people on these boards value service a bit too much when critiquing restaurants. Service is definitely a part of the experience, even a crucial part, but I have never written off a restaurant for service alone. I read reports of that happening here all the time.
