Will be taking a Disney Cruise out of Miami February 22nd. We are regulars at Port Canaveral but never left from Miami and have no clue as to hotels out that way. Hoping to spend two nights in Miami prior to the cruise. Was wondering if anyone has opinions/suggestions on the following hotels we've been looking at: Holiday Inn Port of Miami, Holiday Inn Oceanfront and Hampton Inn Brickell. My dd stayed at the Hampton Inn last December and paid $150 per night but now they are at $290 which is a tad high for my liking. Thanks in advance for any help!

what do you want to do while you're in Miami? Is this just hang out on the beach time, or will you have a car?

We will not have a car. We are actually flying into Fort Lauderdale and taking an Uber for our transportation. Nothing planned.. just see the sights, etc.

I have not sailed out of Miami, but I am from Miami originally and we visit Miami frequently.

I would stay on South Beach which is very walkable. Stay near the Lincoln Road Mall. There’s a boardwalk that’s perfect for renting a bike and riding around. Last time we were there we stayed at the Betsy, ate lots of great meals, and biked to the Fontainebleau Hotel for a cocktail. There are economical options in terms of hotels.

Anywhere else around town and you will probably wish you had a car-Uber adds up and sites are spread out. I haven’t stayed on brickell yet, and I haven’t really considered it-not sure why. I have considered coconut grove and coral gables (I love the Biltmore hotel and the Venetian Pool), but we keep coming back to south beach.

If you can find a good rate for it, the Epic Hotel on Biscayne is really nice... And just a short cab ride from the port. I've had it for 165$/night on Hotwire. One of my best stays.

We are doing the same thing in March coming in from Ft Lauderdale the day before and Uber/Lyft to hotel. Following....

Occasionally work brings me down to the Miami area. If you were flying into Miami the Blue Lagoon area, Hampton, would be a good spot but since you are coming FLL so never mind.

The Marriott and Doubletree on Biscayne Bay both are right no the water near the port. They are connected to a small mall area with a few shops and restaurants which makes it easy as you don’t have to leave the property to grab a bite or pick up a few items if needed before the cruise. They are a short ride to the terminal and the shopping/touristy things at the port. The Hilton right across the street (just walk through the parking garage) is nice and recently updated. All of those can be reasonably priced depending on the specific dates, sometimes the prices jump up. There are some other hotels a little closer to the port but they usually seem to be higher in price. If you are planning on more than a day or two you might want something a little closer to other attractions.

Thank you! I will start looking these up!
