We dropped Directv after 8+ years a few months ago. Signed on for the
Amazon Prime and the Hulu Plus. We thought Hulu and HuluPlus were the exact same...um, nope. The only new show we were interested in wasn't included in the same price. Oh well, dropped the Plus after the trial.
Now we only see what's on Amazon Prime. For the most part, there aren't any newer shows we are interested in. And if we need the highlights, we can read the synopsis or watch bits on the internet.
Much easier to turn the tv off and not be tied down. Have seen many classic movies and shows. DD15 watching Cleopatra with Elizabeth Taylor right now. DS2 adores I Love Lucy and Dick Van Dyke--go figure the black and white holds his attention.
Besides, our DVD collection was being ignored with the satellite. We just couldn't justify the costs, the numerous programs blocked by our parental control settings and our waistlines were definitely expanding.
Now we have a $79 a year payment that also gives me a kindle lending library, package shipping and lots of programs we were ignoring.
