Operation Big Thunder: the Dole Whip Conspiracy COMPLETE

Great update! I love that you guys were seeking out the things you hadn't done before. I keep meaning to do that...:rotfl:

What is it with kids and fountains? :confused3

Lie. Animal Kingdom is.

:rolleyes1 Not in terms of the distance you have to walk, though.

I prefer the name "it's a small mexico", but whatever. It's your trip report, use your own made up names.

"Run for the Border"?

That many dreams within dreams is too unstable!

+1:thumbsup2

Give him the kick!

Probably not the quickest route going through Norway, China, Germany, etc...

Sounds like somebody doesn't know where the tunnel is.

I knew I liked that girl. :thumbsup2

Hey, me too! :thumbsup2

Thus is the life of the FastPass runner. It's their lot in life. It's not a lot, but it's a life.

True. Running for FastPasses is still better than being at work.

Oh, drat. I would have really liked it if you pointed it out.

I'll try and remember that next time.

Oh. Who was watching the kids?:confused3

Kids? Oh, right. I think they were busy throwing stuff in the fountain.

Nice work, Julie!:thumbsup2

Agreed. :goodvibes

It's just not the same if you don't finish the quote.

Sorry. If this were a Universal Studios message board I might be able to.

Most Wisconsin towns have a town drunk. But we also have assistant town drunks, associate town drunks, apprentice town drunks, 2nd-runner-up town drunks, and a visiting town drunk exchange program where drunks can go to other downs and experience being drunk someplace else.

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Do you also have a State Drunk in this election?

Did any of them include a dumbphone?

I think those were presented during the ride, next to the telegraph machine.

A Photopass photographer in the making!

:sad2:

Holy crap, talk about a spoiler warning. Sheesh.

Sorry about that. You can still think of them as Naked Chip & Dale.

Excellent meeting! I love it when they go like that!

:thumbsup2

Dave did a great job, better than anything I ever manage to capture. If I hadn't been in the OBX at the time of your trip, I would have sworn that I was the Ansel Adams who managed the Spaceship Earth pic for you guys.

:rotfl2:

It's always a roll of the dice when you hand off the camera to somebody else. Sometimes you get a great shot. Sometimes you get concrete. As long as they don't walk off with the camera, we're doing ok.

Great update! And I can feel with you about all the walking at Epcot. It is a huge park and I have made the mistake of touring with too much back and forth as well... I guess if you don't have a lot of time, you tend to try to see sooo much that you forget that this will tire you. Happened to me at DLP this summer when I was running around from park opening at 10am until 11pm when the fireworks/projection show Dreams! started. I nearly collapsed at the end of that day....

Epcot is the largest of the 4 theme parks, and after walking through the World Showcase AND saving Germany and China from almost certain inconvenience, it was siesta time. Don’t believe me? Ask these guys:

Lie. NO..AK. Even though I'm a day late and a dollar (or 10) short

If you remember, we were trying to cover attractions that our kids hadn’t seen yet. One such item on our list was the Mexican It’s A Small World.

Gee thanks, now that song will be stuck in my head the next time I ride through there.

Love the shirts! And good job on the Brazillian dodge.

That was quite a lot of back and forth. Pedometer anyone?

an incredible amount of work for incredibly mediocre pictures.

oh dear.

Es un mundo pequeño

That name is instantly more memorable than whatever it's called now!

The feathery companions and the very different sound track are among the numerous advantages this one has over its more infamous counterpart.

Agreed. It makes for a more mildly pleasant diversion.

Run indeed… that’ll be a good hike to catch back up to them.

I wouldn't have a problem with my weight if I was at Disney every day.

Remember… EPCOT means:
Every Person Comes Out Tired

:rotfl2::lmao: I believe I've heard that before, but it's still funny.

I bet that line has shown up in a number of films and television… but I can’t place it specifically.

::yes::

A good reason to spend a little time in this pavilion
(if you have it to spend)

The live music scattered all over “The World” is one of the things I like best about spending time at WDW.

Yeah, the acts are terrific. I like Off Kilter a lot, too. I suppose that's appropriate.

Excellent use of discretion there :rotfl2:

:rolleyes1

Rouge elements of the Sixth Tie-Dye Coastal Dragoon Regiment by the looks of em’.

It certainly was a rag-tag element.

Didn’t Han solo utter that line somewhere in one of the “good” Star Wars films? Like maybe: “Return of the Jedi”?

Never mind… Andy already thought the same thing.

::yes::

A reference to ET The Ext… awwwwwww, nevermind…
got beat to that one too. Actually I got beat to all of them this time around.

C'est la vie.

It happens.

Yep!
That and the backwards waterfall are really all you need to see there.

Pretty much. There certainly are many others here who seem to love Figment and Captain EO, but the only thing I can say to them is: in that case, can I have your Soarin' FastPass? :confused3:rotfl2:

Nice update.
I love that park…

I miss that park…

I want to go back!!!!!

Well, then go! Your son doesn't need to go to college anyway.

This was hard, but without cheating I got:

ET Phone home

Gladiator AT my signal unleash hell

Good work Mary Ellen! I'm awarding you a point for the effort.

+1:thumbsup2

Fun update. Great pictures, especially Morocco.

I remember that Scotty said something REALLY funny, but I was concentrating on the movie quotes too much to remember it. I've got to go back and find that.

Scotty says a lot of funny stuff. I really need to write it down more often.

I love those fountains. They are so awesome and so hard to get a good picture of.

Julie said the difference was that last time we borrowed our friends' zoom lens, and she was able to get in tight with the water spray. So now she's lobbying for a new camera lens. :sad2:

Yeah for Spaceship Earth. A definite favorite.

Boo to the tour groups.

We did really well with the crowds...so far.

Well, then go! Your son doesn't need to go to college anyway.

Yah…
But since employers are convinced that you need one, the dad in me says I gott’a make sure he earns one (or at least give him the opportunity to do so).

OK, since you agree that one of the lines I flagged (but couldn’t place) back there in the update may well indeed have been a specifically added as a quote...
I’ll take a shot at this one:

My dogs were barking for sure

Is it possible that you were thinking of “Planes Trains and Automobiles” at the time?

I’ve found it buried in a scrip from “The Office” as well, but I like is as a film quote better.

Great update, Mark. I love that you were doing things you've never done before...it's always fun to experience new things.

I love the shirts Julie made. :thumbsup2

Our kids loved those fountains by the Journey Into Imagination Pavillion...they could spend hours there every trip. But I'm a little disappointed that there was no visiting Figment...the Purple guy needs some love.

Agreed, although this version is much better than the second version. Rumor has it that they may do away with the pavillion. :(

Agreed, although this version is much better than the second version. Rumor has it that they may do away with the pavillion. :(

I absolutely do not want that. I just want Dreamfinder back. That's all I'm asking for. :confused3

We were at my mom and dad's last night and DS was drinking from an old Figment cup that I got when we went in 1985. Brings back memories. One of my first character meets ever was with Dreamfinder and Figment and that purple... um thing... became one of my favorite characters. :lmao::rotfl2:

How is it that, at Epcot, you always want to be somewhere that is on the complete other side of the park all the time? We are always going back and forth there.

It's less of a problem when we're there for a full week and can give 2 days up for exploring Epcot. But with 1 day...yeah, it's a lot of walking.

My oldest would have gone on the Mexico ride 50 times a trip when she was younger...even before Donald. She just really liked the volcano. Luckily she's grown out of it.

 I didn't care for it before Donald...the obnoxious guy in the movie running around trying to sell me stuff bothered me even as a kid!

I absolutely love Voices of Liberty! We had to miss them on our last trip because we'd always hit that portion of World Showcase right as our 3-year-old was getting cranky....and you don't mess with a cranky 3-year-old. :scared1:

Yeah, nobody wants to be That Guy or That Lady with the Cranky 3-Year-Old in a public setting.

Morocco is one of my favorite pavillions to just wander in. Every time we've been there, it seems like nobody is back in the shops or walkways.

Great spot. The details are so good in the WS. In general, I love the spots where it feels like there's something else to discover around the next corner. This happens a lot in the WS, Wilderness Lodge, and AKL.

So, since I'm sure I missed out on all of the movie quotes, I'm going to say that you are keeping the theme of the lies going with a Disney geography-ish lie because Animal Kingdom is the largest park.

Seems to be a popular choice. Is that the lie, did I just screw up my facts, or did I use a different measure?:confused3

Is "my dogs were barking" a Planes, Trains, & Automobiles reference?

::yes::

+1:thumbsup2

Is "By and large" a nod to Wall-E?

I hadn't thought of it, actually. But that's a good one!

+1:thumbsup2

Another great chapter Captain! That sure is a big park to criss-cross a couple of times. Why the heck did they have to put that big lake in the middle? :confused3

And thanks for the shout-out! :)

I read somewhere that there was actually a large sinkhole there that they needed to build around. I don't know if that's true or not. Anyway, I needed to lose the weight after all those burgers.

And you call your kids playing in the jumping water all day a waste of $85...:lmao:

Yeah, seriously. I know walking around Epcot in the heat is tiring, but that's a lot of money for a nap. I love how those guys kicked off their shoes and everything.

Really??? There's never a wait, it is relaxing and there's AC. What's your excuse? :confused3

Bad memories of the old Mexico ride. And a desire to ride Soarin' more often.

I hate to burst your bubble, but I don't think I've ever seen this line more than half a boat deep. :rotfl2:

That's ok. I may not have ridden it otherwise.

:thumbsup2 That's a great way to enjoy that ride. The videos of the characters are kind of lame, but it is a great way to get off your feet and relax. I just love the ambiance of the Mexican pavillion and the pyramid and volcano. Word is you can actually take drinks from Cava del Tequila on that ride. I didn't try it last time because DW was pregnant, but sounds like a good idea to me!

Now that would be interesting. Wonder what the Mariachi Band skeletons look like after you've had a few? :rotfl:

So if the drawbridge where they bring in the Illuminations barges was raised, does that mean you'd have swam for it?

Absolutely! I had another joke lined up here but it's probably too political, so I'll stop.

Maybe you should join Tim and Barry in the half marathon?

I need Randall or Rob to insert that "Ha ha ha ha ha NO" smiley here.

You do realize what kind of audience you're writing this for, right? :rotfl2:

*burp*

Bonus Scotty quote, since it seems appropriate here:

"Mommy, I know how to play Boogie Touch. You get a boogie from your nose and put it on your finger, then you try and touch someone with it!"

Sorry, I've still got the mariachi band from It's a Small Mexico going on in my head. But it still isn't as bad as that song from It's a Small World. You know that one, don't you? :thumbsup2

Never heard of it. :confused3

I still think the last lie went a little bit deeper and a tribute to Glenn's picture took place somewhere in Italy...

I wouldn't do that...where do they get the water for the pizza dough at Via Napoli, anyway?

You should have said Otis Campbell to set up the Andy Griffith Show reference. :rolleyes1 :rotfl2:

Sorry, that was before my time. Maybe Opie Cunningham would get it.

I'm not sure what is more scary here. The fact that you ran into a Brazilian Tour Group, or the fact that you took the time to note the name of the tour group and look up their website. :rotfl2::lmao::rotfl:

The name got burrowed into my brain after seeing t-shirt after t-shirt.

Either that or they were just trying to catch up to the rest of their group who was already waiting in the FP line.

The important thing is, we ditched them and won the race!

Was the pilot's name Mark?

:rolleyes1

I thought it looked like he was flossing with it.

I guess that could have been the case. I didn't know chipmunks had such good dental hygiene.

I guess it wouldn't really be a waste then, would it?

In my case, it would be. The kids would still be getting soaked and laughing it up, and I'd be checking my watch and wondering what the wait times were on all the rides I was missing.

Does the place serve burgers?

All the wonderful, exotic places to eat and Epcot and you think I'm going for more burgers?

We rode the ride in Mexico when we were there last week. It was Really fun until the last 45 minutes. :crazy2:

45 minutes?! :faint:

Really?

I'm so happy they turned out so well!

You did awesome work.

And then you hit me with this?

-1:mad:

Love this picture!

Me too.

:) about dinner! :furious: about pictures. (They were ALMOST good!)

I'm not even sure the Photoshop skillz of FreezinRafiki's Ace Rendering Technologies could help with these.

Inception!! I get bonus bonus points! A quote within a quote!

Good job! Unfortunately, this point will just balance out the one you lost.

+1:thumbsup2

Uh, yeah.....we have an app for that.

We do?

I need Randall or Rob to insert that "Ha ha ha ha ha NO" smiley here.

hahanosmiley-1.gif

Sorry, that was before my time. Maybe Opie Cunningham would get it.

Opie = The Andy Griffith Show

Cunningham = Happy Days!

45 minutes?! :faint:

Really?

Really!

Yeah I finally got a lie. Not only am I the mother of 3 but I know where almost every bathroom is in the parks. Nice to know that knowledge has paid off.

You never know where your accumulated knowledge and expertise will help you out. I have all this supposedly useless movie quote knowledge, and yet it's helped me to...um...

I really enjoyed this chapter. The pictures were fabulous. Loved the World Showcase pictures and the photo pass picture of the family behind the ball.

:thanks:

Chip and Dale are my youngest favorite characters. The first time we took her she was 3 and would have nothing to do with the characters until Chip and Dale broke through her reluctance at Chef Mickeys. We always have the most fun visiting with them.

They really do a great job. I can't remember ever having an interaction with them that wasn't a lot of fun.

I have to admit I have no idea on the lie right now. I'll have to think on it for a bit.

There may or may not be more than 1 factually incorrect statement.

No offense taken. I was once part of a big teenage group visiting Disney myself. It is a rite of passage in Brazil. Trust me when I tell you most of us are completely oblivious to the disturbance we cause.

If that was the only way I could see Disney World, you'd better believe I'd be taking advantage of it. We really didn't have much of a problem at all (except for one part, which I'll get to)--it was just a matter of trying not to get caught in line behind a huge group, that's all.

I live in Canada now and my husband always jokes that whenever I feel homesick all he really needs to do is bring me to Disney. Whereelse outside Brazil can we bump into obnoxious Brazilians at every corner? :lmao:

:lmao::rotfl2::rotfl:

Anyways, still enjoying your trip report. Cannot wait to read more.

:thanks: I'm glad you're still here!

Great update! I love that you guys were seeking out the things you hadn't done before. I keep meaning to do that...:rotfl:

Yeah, it's just about impossible to give up the old favorites. Luckily, we didn't have to do that.

What is it with kids and fountains? :confused3

I don't know what it is exactly, but I want it back. :goodvibes

Great TR keep it coming captain:)

Thanks and :welcome:
