Open Mike Night - Everyone is Welcome

Last edited by Minnie_Moo : Yesterday at 11:22 PM. Reason: Twink, how did the quiz writing go? You sure got some great suggestions!

Quizzes were written. Thanks everyone for the great suggestions. I haven't graded them yet.... had no less than 4 students ask if there would be a quiz every week.

Yes. When I wrote in the syllabus that 60% of your grade would be weekly quizzes it was implied that there would be a quiz each week. Also when I emailed the entire class on Sunday to remind them to prepare for the quiz that was a sublte hint that there would, in fact, be a quiz.

Congrats on the bling Moo!!!! I am afraid to step on the scale... Disney dining and then Superbowl pie..... I really fell off the wagon and I am not quite ready to get back on... but hooray for you!

Nice kids. They probably all know the answers to the rap question. I scored a 21 without cheating, googling or asking Lil' G.

So I thought I'd retake that quiz with high speed. I realized I not only do I not know who sings rap songs, but also what crack is derived from (among other things)

BUT, more importantly, while my IQ stayed the same, the average sank, and I am now 6.1% SMARTER than the average.
All without a minute of studying........... :dance3:

I can't believe 4 of your students asked if there'd be a weekly quiz. I used to love joke question freebies.

:rotfl2: What a nice teacher you are!!!

Hop back on the scale and the wagon soon, Nellie! It's probably not as bad as you think due to all that walking at the World. Hopefully your stress level will be lower now that you don't have to worry over whether your DH is getting the job.

My hopes for a winter trip to Florida were dashed today. My cousin has all kinds of company until Easter weekend. I'm thinking airfare will be kind of pricey around that time, if there are even any seats left! Waaahhhhh!!!

Moo~ I love your new ribbon! It's beautiful (beautifu) and so are you!

I think you should go to DisneyLAND say....in 17 days...WITH ME!
You can co-captain the Suburban. I'll be on duct tape patrol. UGGH! That's going to be a long 10 hours :hourglass

Sorry about your winter trip dreams fizzling. Sit and listen to a WISHES cd and have a good cry. :sad1:

Love ya!!!!!

What's Friday? and what does "remember to bold for UMA" mean??

I finally sceduled myself an appointment with my doctor about my stomach issues. It's Thursday. I'm taking my four boys AND the little girl I babysit. Thankfully, it's just right here in town so it'll only be a 20 minute drive instead of 45-60 like all our other doctors.

Anyway, I thought I would start keeping that food journal this week, so I could have something recent to go on for him. I started Monday.

Monday:
1 slice whole wheat bread with tiny amount smart balance.
2 slices swiss cheese, 2 slices turkey, 2 slices roast beef
4 in. meatball sub with mozzerella cheese.
1/2 cup pop corn
Tuesday:
4 in. meatball sub with mozzerella cheese
1 corn muffin with 1 t. butter
1 biscuit with 1 t. butter
Pancakes with butter and maple syrup.(3 large, I only ate 1/4 of the stack, we ate at Cracker Barrel, pancakes were the only thing that looked good to me.)

I'll try for more balance today. I just haven't really felt like eating this week. I never feel like eating breakfast, I am almost always nauseous in the AM(not preg. yet, just not a morning person) so I find it really hard to eat anything for breakfast. We're having crispy(fancy for shake n bake) pesto chicken tonight.

I have a buttload of laundry to fold today. Thankfully I have CSI Miami and House to watch.

mommyp- It's for the Wish (weight loss) thread. On fridays is when we weigh in and announce our weight losses. But there's so much for me to record that people were not puting their weight losses at the start of their posts. I have to read all the friday posts several times to make sure they didn't sneak their weight loss in the middle or what ever. For example:
lost 6 pounds!!!! is easier for me to see than "lost 6 pounds" when I'm looking at 30 people's numbers. (By the way, I WISH I could post that -6 pounds!)

I am up a full hour early today! What the heck?! I'm too exited to sleep for our DisneyLand road trip in 16 days!!!!:woohoo: I really should finish up the old TR. SOOOO sad to end it! Endings are just sad! OTHER people's endings are sad to me! I'm going to be a wreck! "I cry at other people's ends"! Hahahaha!

I need to finish mine too.

See Marita, as long as the average is going down then you are improving:rotfl:
I knew about crack however I wasn't sure about the language in Pakistan... now what does that say?:confused3

Did anyone see that movie "idiocracy"... not something I would normally watch but a)DH does all the movie renting b) I love the Wilson boys.... it was actually quite funny (however it is full of bad language... not for the family or anyone who is bothered by language)... of course my expectations were rock bottom.

I can't believe 4 of your students asked if there'd be a weekly quiz. I used to love joke question freebies.
No joke question freebies. This group probably isn't the brightest bunch... they are pretty young. I do try to teach them how to study... my quizzes are hard (so they tell me) but most people have significant improvement in their grades over the class as the learn how to pick out the important stuff (and the wise students hear me say things "This is important." or "You should know this." or "If I was in class I would certainly be highlighting this.')

:rotfl2: What a nice teacher you are!!!

Thanks Moo! I wish I had read this before I ate half a doughnut and a piece of cake for breakfast. I will look for the wagon. Don't want to declutter it out of the house.

You know one of those email lists that goes around.. top bazillion things you will never hear a Southerner say... well one of them is

Duct tape won't fix that.

Cracks me up! (just a phrase folks, don't do drugs, stay in school) Cause it true!

I have a buttload of laundry to fold today. Thankfully I have CSI Miami and House to watch.

And you can be thankfu you have clean laundry to fold... unlike I... today DH is going to actually call someone (Ghostbusters maybe) instead of just thinking about it.

! "I cry at other people's ends"! Hahahaha!

Me too. Unless I laugh. Hahahahahahahahahaha.

I don't get it....

Sorry Mommy P. I forgot you were not here for the antics of a former poster. I LOVE my home state of South Dakota. I am now living in the State of Misery, I mean Missouri. Whenever I meet someone new I just tell them that I am from South Dakota. A fact that I am very proud of and immediately impresses them. I think. (now I sound like Mel)

I have been very busy lately so I haven't been posting much. Too much work and kids sports. Reagan's basketball team that I coach played against a team coached by Andy Benes, a former Cardinal pitcher. We lost 21 - 17. However, Reagan scored 14 of our 17 points and was clearly the best player on the court. (maybe of all time) The high school coach came over to me and asked who her parents were. Ha. You can just imagine how I played that one. I am truly insufferable. In real life too it seems.

Twinkie - Feel free to stop by and do your laundry. I have another set (of washer/dryer) in the garage. I'd be happy to share. Plus, while your's washes, we can have girl talk and fold mine. :rotfl:

You ARE impressed that I am from South Dakota, right Mommy P?

Wheat Thins

My best friend lived in South Dakota for a few years while her (ex) husband was in the air force. She didn't get out much.

My little sis went to Missouri for her honeymoon. How funny is that?

No, John Dunbar. Not John Dumb Bear.

Tell me the film. Without googling or asking Lil G, Lil Miss Cutie Pie or straight A student Windy.

Very dumb/funny. WHO would go to the State of Misery for their honeymoon. We have the arch, the Cardinals and Wheat Thins. NOTHING else.

Well, since no one ELSE will post I'm gonna keep going. I am so ready to play some golf. I smoked a cigar in my basement last week just to kinda remind myself what it was like. I am still hearing about that bad decision from wife, kids and friends of kids. I also have a new diversion you probably don't know about. I will be right back to post a picture of my, I mean my kids' Christmas present.

Wheat Thins

Is your new diversion anything like my husband's Christmas present? I got him a Nintendo Wii, and apparently I'm the best Wii-bowler in the history of, well, our house. 298. That's right, 2 freakin' pins short of a 300. So you know I'm on it constantly now trying for a 300. I need a life.

A pinball machine. Now that is what I need to help stimulate me to get my work done.

Close, soooo close. We almost bought one of those things. Does the dog know how to play?
