Open Mike Night - Everyone is Welcome Part 3

Poppins - you can put the kid on our ressie.
Yay! I'm excited you're probably gonna get to go! Woo!

Good evening, Meepies. Hello to the Newbies!!!

Just wanted to report in now that my Grandma's funeral and dinner are over. The service was pretty nice. The minister said he has never done a funeral for a centenerian before and was honored to do so.

One of my cousins who is close to my age (Marita, it was Gail who you met in January) said a few words about Grandma and how much she loved all of her family and how welcoming she always was to everyone who came to visit or who just dropped by with her children or grandchildren. She also read the "Remember Me" poem in the memorial booklet. She did a wonderful job, didn't sound nervous at all. I would have liked to say a few words, but I just tear up too easily. She asked if I would, but I told her I thought she would do great on behalf of all of us grandkids (she is the oldest) and she did.

At the end of the service, they showed a bunch of photos that another cousin had scanned and that were set to music. Some of them were of Grandma as a girl and young woman that I had somehow never seen before. Very cool. Then there were some in there of Grandpa and their children. Seeing the photos of my mom brought tears to my eyes.

As expected, my two redneck uncles did wear bluejeans. Oh well, it was mostly family . . . Eeyore, the casket was wood, not white, so no messages written on it with Sharpies!!!

My best friend and her daughter came to the service and sat with me at the dinner afterward, so that was nice. A couple of my brother's friends who he had not seen for quite some time were able to be there too. I was happy for him. So, pretty much no family drama.

Thanks again, everyone, for thinking of me today!

Cheryl I am glad you have your daughter there, so sorry for your loss. The flowers sound beautiful, Gerbera Daisies are my favorite flower. :grouphug:
Thanks, Haley, they were beautiful. There were no plants available for my sister to take home and she didn't want to take the azalea that my hubby's family sent, so I pulled a few of the Gerbera daisies out of the arrangement and stuck them in a vase for her. I'll deliver them to her tomorow when my DD and I meet her for lunch.

What The Helk?

You peeps are BI-ZEE!

I wont even attempt to catch up, just tell me if anyone announced anything major.

Me and Spongiepurseaddicted went to the Scrapbook Expo last night.
OMGarsh it was fabu!

Our mission was the AMM(All My Memories) booth....The handbag booth. Where I SCORED a pink and brown purse WITH matching wallet. Purse 15.00, Wallet, 7.50!!!!! I KNOW!
Sounds like a fun time, Uma! Glad you and Spongie and the girls could go, potty fun and all!!! Your purse sounds cute.

DING DING DING, COME AND GET IT! THE LONG AWAITED HOOP-DE-DOO EPISODE.

I've slaved away over a hot computer all day adding photos and fine tuning. Hope you like it.
:yay: YAY! That's my next stop!

Just talked to my SIL. Mom is still in the hospital, but maybe transferred to a short term care facility for a few weeks. SIL said she is mostly clear in the head again, thanks to new meds (or rather lack of old ones that were not good for her), but still has occasional funky episodes. Like saying why can't Mike (my DH) just come and vist. SIL explained that it would take a long flight (24 hours round trip) just to shake hands and go back, and she said, Oh yes, right!, and then went back to normal. I am not liking this whole development, but at 93, I guess you have to expect some downturn sometime.

Kay, coming right over to get it!!!!!!
 Hope she does OK, Marita. Glad they got the meds switched over.

:cool1: :flower3:

Congrats to me!!!! Perfect little godson! Born at 10:44 AM CST today! And...I was the first to know!!!!! :dance3:

Moo, sounds like it was a lovely service, so glad for you!

My DD is hell bent on moving to Germany. How ironic is that?

I distressed my Mom by moving to US, and now she is stressing me with talk of moving to Germany!

Kay, I am still mid-report, sorry, life interrupted the reading!

See you later friends!

I forgot to say that today has been another dry day for Kaleb! He's even been telling me 50% of the time that he has to go!

Of course while we were at the beach it was a free for all.

But he stayed dry all the way TO the beach and HOME! He came home and went poops and pee right away!

I am so proud of him!

:scared1: Marita, is that why your DD has been taking German?!

Yes, it was a pretty nice service. It's nice to be relaxing at home tonight.

Cheryl

Obviously nobody explained the woohooty to Freyja when she made the 8000th post on this thread:rolleyes:

hey everyone...

Kelly .....you live near the Hampton Toll booth too........when we go to visit hubbies brother we go that way some times.......in the summer it is a ZOO.....we are from the other side of the river......MAINE....hahaha

I am exhuasted......mentally and physically.......my mom was so upset tonight that the nurse had to give her something ....I even thought it was a good idea tonight.....usually I am not one for meds for the elderly but she was so distraught.....she was crying about everyone and then saying that one of the ladies beats her up......and that they drop patients out by the front door naked before they are let in......she was not good at all......I had to hold her like I did my own kids and comfort her.......My brother will return on Sunday night and Monday we will have a family meeting.....she needs to either get some more drugs or move her.....but she may be the same way if we move her to another facility....she had another injury to her arm .....her skin is transparent and very thin and tears easily.......so they had to call and report it last night...she has been brought to the ER in the last two weeks twice....once for falling and the other for burning her lap area with hot tea...
I will worry when I go to Disney.....but my brother and my other sister will be on call then.......We will call every day for mom and mil too.......
night my friends

 pumba.
I'm sorry it's rough, but you have to be able to enjoy your vacation. You were there for her while your brother went on the cruise - you need to let go while you are at WDW.

Pumba, sorry about your mom!

I am getting worried about mine too, and I am sooooo far away!

Freya, you did great!! What is the time difference between there and eastern US, if any?

Moo, my daughter loves all things German, and said she could move over there by borrowing money and take a language program, since she has to take a student loan anyway for her master's. In history, where language has really no bearing on the degree!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! She seems so mature, but sometimes you wonder!!!!!!!!!!!

Then she said, dh gave her money to go to Germany, and the only time she has is the end of May. She could be an extra set of eyes on my mom. She is not getting that mom may not be well enough to be home by then, and even if so, Mom would get way too excited worrying anytime DD would go out, sending up blood pressure and starting a bad cycle again!

Good Evening Everyone! I'm having major internet problems tonight which does not make me a happy camper :headache:

Anything fun going on?

I just put DD to bed and I'm pretending to watch a movie DH picked out for us ;)

Hi Betsy!

Nothing exciting yet! Maybe we could have a party later?

I'll bring some deviled eggs and some wine. And maybe some other snack if I can think of any.

Internet problems suck, hope it gets better!

Hi Marita!

A party sounds good! I could bring some key lime pie and margaritas. Why not go into sugar shock :)

I'm convinced Verizon is creating my DSL issues on purpose so that I will upgrade to their new FIOS
