Good evening, Meepies. Hello to the Newbies!!!
Just wanted to report in now that my Grandma's funeral and dinner are over. The service was pretty nice. The minister said he has never done a funeral for a centenerian before and was honored to do so.
One of my cousins who is close to my age (Marita, it was Gail who you met in January) said a few words about Grandma and how much she loved all of her family and how welcoming she always was to everyone who came to visit or who just dropped by with her children or grandchildren. She also read the "Remember Me" poem in the memorial booklet. She did a wonderful job, didn't sound nervous at all. I would have liked to say a few words, but I just tear up too easily. She asked if I would, but I told her I thought she would do great on behalf of all of us grandkids (she is the oldest) and she did.
At the end of the service, they showed a bunch of photos that another cousin had scanned and that were set to music. Some of them were of Grandma as a girl and young woman that I had somehow never seen before. Very cool. Then there were some in there of Grandpa and their children. Seeing the photos of my mom brought tears to my eyes.
As expected, my two redneck uncles did wear bluejeans. Oh well, it was mostly family . . . Eeyore, the casket was wood, not white, so no messages written on it with Sharpies!!!
My best friend and her daughter came to the service and sat with me at the dinner afterward, so that was nice. A couple of my brother's friends who he had not seen for quite some time were able to be there too. I was happy for him. So, pretty much no family drama.
Thanks again, everyone, for thinking of me today!
Cheryl I am glad you have your daughter there, so sorry for your loss. The flowers sound beautiful, Gerbera Daisies are my favorite flower.
Thanks, Haley, they were beautiful. There were no plants available for my sister to take home and she didn't want to take the azalea that my hubby's family sent, so I pulled a few of the Gerbera daisies out of the arrangement and stuck them in a vase for her. I'll deliver them to her tomorow when my DD and I meet her for lunch.
What The Helk?

DING DING DING, COME AND GET IT! THE LONG AWAITED HOOP-DE-DOO EPISODE.
I've slaved away over a hot computer all day adding photos and fine tuning. Hope you like it.

YAY! That's my next stop!
Just talked to my SIL. Mom is still in the hospital, but maybe transferred to a short term care facility for a few weeks. SIL said she is mostly clear in the head again, thanks to new meds (or rather lack of old ones that were not good for her), but still has occasional funky episodes. Like saying why can't Mike (my DH) just come and vist. SIL explained that it would take a long flight (24 hours round trip) just to shake hands and go back, and she said, Oh yes, right!, and then went back to normal. I am not liking this whole development, but at 93, I guess you have to expect some downturn sometime.
Kay, coming right over to get it!!!!!!

Hope she does OK, Marita. Glad they got the meds switched over.
WOO HOOOOOO, Tammy!!!
