Oops ...

A bit of a plumbing disaster here last night - the bath tap came apart and we couldn't turn off the supply!

It would seem (eventually worked this one out) the bath mixer tap runs the cold water from the attic tank, not the mains. We turned off the mains supply but it took until the tank had emptied before the tap stopped spewing water everywhere! It didn't appear to have its own stopcock. Just what we needed last thing lat night!

Guess what I'm doing today? Waiting for the plumber to arrive

All sorted now, thanks. The tap was repairable, so my fears about having the whole bathroom ripped apart to access the faulty tap and replace it were unfounded (this time!).

The most amazing thing was how nice the plumber was (no, his name wasn't Jones, Tim ). He was polite, not at all condescending and treated me as a fellow human being rather than an alien species who couldn't possibly understand the intricacies of a domestic water supply. I'd be happy to recommend him to anyone!
