OOP Option with Dining Plan

I have a question about the Magic Bracelets and the Dining Plan. I usually plan alot of reservations and many are at signature places, taking 2 credits, so in order to make sure I have enough credits for the most expensive restaurants for the duration of my stay, I usually pay out of pocket for several of my breakfasts and buffets. In the past, that was easy - they would ask me if I was on the dining plan at those breakfasts, and even though I was, I would just tell them no, and would pay with my credit card or room to the world card.

But now with magic bands, is that more complicated? Does the hostess scan your magic band at the start of every reservation and does it just automatically program you in for the dining plan and deduct it, even if you don't want to use it that day? Can I choose to not let them scan my magic band? Should I hide it in my pocket LOL

Must the band be scanned even if you tell them you're not on the dining plan? I don't want to be charged a credit that can't be undone when I want to pay out of pocket and then have them tell me it's too late, the computer automatically did it.

When you check in to the restaurant they will ask you if you are on any Dining Plan and that includes Table in Wonderland. This is noted on your ticket your server sees. If you say no then there would be no reason for them to use your MB. They also ask if you are staying at a Disney resort and which one for info purposes.

At the end of you meal they will bring you your ticket. If you are going to use your DDP or charge to your room they have a small scanner they will bring to you. If you wish to pay cash or by credit card, you may do that as well and they will never ask for your MB. If you are concerned about accidental credits being used then use your credit card.

Thank you so much! You have put my mind at ease. Sometimes I think too much/over analyze as I try to anticipate every problem that may occur on these vacations, so as to avoid them. So, I was worried for nothing. Whew.
