Ooooooooohhhhh! That BeeGees tribute was just awful!!!!!

Maggie I thought so too. I just didn't want to be the first to say it. It was awful! :(

Why couldn't they show clips:confused:

The singing part was just awful, the tributes by his brothers and family were wonderful. :) :)

The singing part was NSync style. I don't think they were supposed to sound like the BeeGees. I thought the tribute was nice. But I do love those musical tributes with songs and pictures too.

The tribute by his family was wonderful. I could hardly hold back the tears. I think that NSync could have at least practiced the songs that they were going to sing.

LOL John!!!! :teeth: I was going to be kind and decribe their performance as "brief" . . ;)

I like Ed Bradley a lot but he sped-read through the tribute. . and an actual tape of a performance by the Bee Gees would have been much better then N'Sync. . . who was anything but. . :rolleyes:

Bringing the remaining brother's out and gving the honorary Grammy was classy and very touching though. . :) :) :)

I couldn't hold back the tears. I am glad that Barry & Robin are going to continue their music in honor of Maurice. I loved that Maurice's son came on stage with his uncles.

P.S. I didn't think N'Sync was that bad, like wvjules said, it was N'Sync style. Have you noticed that through out this show, whenever there has been a special award, they have announced it but not played any of the music relevant to it? (Or did I miss something?)

I was thankful that the NSYNC part was short because I couldn't stand them butchering the songs....but as soon as I saw the brothers come out I cried, and it got worse when I saw his wife Yvonne. As Barry said, this was much more difficult that they could have ever imagined.

OK...I liked it.
That's all I'm gonna say :rolleyes:

My daughter and I liked it too. We knew they wouldn't "sound" just like the Bee Gees - no one could. Barry seemed to like it and the crowd gave *NSync a standing O. I thought the *NSync performance was one of the best of the night - only James Taylor sounded better. For everyone else the sound was "off" somehow, especially Faith Hill.

i thought that overall the boys did a good job...but there were a few spots that really could have used some rehearsal...

i've always liked 'NSYNC...i admire the fact that they are one of the few boy bands out there that can actually carry a tune acapella...

i didn't shed a tear when the family came out, but my eyes did well up a time or two! i thought it was neat when they called his son up there...

OMG! I can't believe I missed it! ME, the BIGGEST Bee Gee fan in the world, who used to follow them around (not stalk). I'd fly to wherever I possibly could to catch their concerts....I hung around their homes in FL....I can't believe I missed it!!!!

I would have been so sad to see his wife & son come up on stage! I feel so sad by Maurice's passing. What about their daughter? Wasn't she there too?

It was sad enough when Andy died, but since his death was "self inflicted" I could almost accept it, but not with Maurice. Poor guy. His poor family....my hearts go out to all of them.

Even though I didn't see the tribute, I take my "hat" off to NSYNC to at least honor the Bee Gees that way.

What was the audiences reaction?

Signed,
Always a day late & a dollar short!

What was the audiences reaction?
They got a standing ovation from the audience and and Barry Gibb said "wow, that was pretty amazing. Thank you Nsync. Unbelievable".

Mishetta;
His wife did not go up on stage , she stayed within the audience along with their daughter Sammi , their son Adam was the one Barry asked to join him and Robin on stage and accept the grammy on his father's behalf. They did show his wife and daughter though because Barry wanted everyone to know his family , she cried when Adam said he knows his father would also want to thank her, Barry cried too.
So sad to see my Bee Gees incomplete.:(

I was engrossed in a Movie on another network.:rolleyes: Anyway, I am glad I missed N'Sync Butchering the Bee Gees tribute, I cannot stand them anyway.:rolleyes: I am still sad for the Gibb family, it must be very hard on them....:(

Oh thank you MsKanga & wvjules for the information. Gosh, I'm still so upset I missed it, but it sounds like I wouldn't have been able to handle it anyway. I would have cried a river if I had seen Barry cry & seeing the fresh wound on Yvonne's heart. The news of Maurice's death is still such a shock to me. I can't even try to imagine what his family is going through.

Thanks for sharing.

In sadness,

Mishetta

Mishetta;
Yvonne Gibb not only lost her husband, she also lost a brother a couple of weeks ago, :(
