Multiple questions, a bit mental at the moment as my budget is going all over the place due to my worrying mind! Sorry!

I'm going to Disney solo from the 14th to the 21st of September but cannot decide on a hotel. I've been to the parks before but was staying in a Universal hotel at the time.

Onsite, I was looking at Pop Century as it is good value for money and has everything I need. However I read about the snake in room thread (I should have ignored it!) and got scared out of my mind. :scared: I've have panic attacks about normal spiders here so snakes will be worse!

So then I was looking at hotels that the door of the room is within a building so the Swan or Dolphin resorts would be ideal for this....however this would reduce my spends when I get there so I'm thinking this through....:scratchin

Then I thought about what is important for the trip, which is somewhere safe, somewhere with travel to the parks (I'm a nightmare on the roads :hyper:), somewhere close to places to eat that I can walk or bus it too so I had a search and I'm interested in Buena Vista Palace (a short walk to Downtown Disney) or Wyndham at LBV.

Anyway now I'm worrying myself over nothing and think it would just be easier to ignore the snake stuff, ask for a top floor room away from the lake and be happy.

:offtopic:

I also want to know, does any the onsite hotels have buses that go to downtown Disney?

go with POP

then go with a higher floor. now it does have elevators - but really don't think any snake would get in an elevators or climb steps.

liked 50 - building 3 - Tramp building - looking at the lake.

you are not going to get the great transportation offsite that you get on. if you don't like to drive - you will have a problem even getting to WDW. well you could take a shuttle to your offsite place - but renting a car is cheaper. besides offsite needs a car to go to the great places to eat or just shopping.

now since the economy is bad more offsite offer transportation to WDW than did before.

you can try any of the Disney downtown hotels - they do offer transportation to WDW - but getting to them is at your expense.

We've only stayed on site. We do this for the Disney experience and the convenience of transportation. I'd recommend the All Stars or Pop Century. I've never heard of a snake problem before reading your post. The top floors of all these resorts would be a good choice.

In our earlier years of traveling to Disney, we always took the Disney transportation. Now we rent a car which meets our needs better. I think you should do whatever makes you feel comfortable.

You can get to DTD from any resort on a Disney bus. You cannot, however, get to DTD from the parks. I'd say if you need to get to DTD from a park, go to the closest resort and catch a bus to DTD.

Happy travels to you!

I do think I'm over reacting a bit and needed to ask others, I guess I'm afraid I'd be one of the few that has one in my room!

Thanks for the info on getting to Downtown Disney. All Stars was another I was looking at too however Pop looks better. I will keep thinking about it and see :)

I think for a solo trip, you're better staying on site. In all of my trips, I've never had a snake in my room, anywhere!

Safety-wise, I think you're better off on property and you won't have to drive either!

OP,
You might want to post your questions about the Swan and Dolphin on the Swan and Dolphin thread. I have read there that often you can get great deals there in Sept. Might not be much more than Pop and you still get WDW transportation. The bonus is it will be a nicer resort with more amenities and you can walk to Epcot or DHs

We just got back and we stayed at the Doubletree lake buena vista. While it is too big for most single travelers (unless you want a ton of space) it shared a bus with the Hilton, LBV palace, and best western. The buses do go to DTD. Easy walk though too. The buses to the parks run on the half hour and hour and we were never squished on any of our trips. Hilton LBV also has access to EMHs.

I suppose I'm looking the wrong place for Swan and Dolphin prices as my travel agent is advising it is almost double the price of Pop Century.

I will have a look for that thread and see what I can find. Thanks haPevraftr.
