Is this even possible?

I just priced June 13-19, 7 day hoppers, and dining plan at POP Century and its $2961.00....so yep its doable:thumbsup2 With quick service dining instead of regular its $2627.10. We find that we can do the quick service plan and pay oop for a couple of TS buffets and still come out cheaper than with the cost of the regular plan. Depends on what you want. We prefer the quick service and not being tied to a certain park or meal time every day.

If you went to a mod...I put in POR...the price with quick service is $2978.38 and with regular dining is $3312.28. Still with 7 day hoppers.

Was also going to say it is doable. I used the Spring "room only" offer and priced June 13 to June 20 (check-out) and added 8 day Magic your way park tickets. In a standard room at All Stars it comes out to $1179. This does not include dining and I guess you would have to call to add it on? Or b/c it is a "room only" offer will it not allow you to add dining?

Thanks guys...now I just need to convince DH that it's doable. HA

I went back and looked at the room(POP) only you are pricing....and doing it that way and adding the 7 day hoppers and quick service its $2566.54 and with the regular plan its $2900.44....so a little cheaper.
With the mod its $2892.86 with quick service and $3226.76

Of course you could drop the hopper option and that would take off about $165 or so. I think its $55 extra per ticket. We usually dont get it, but at that time in June you may want it. You could always go without it and add it once you get there if you feel you need it.

You can add the Dining Plan to a Room Only Discount offer. You do need to also add Tickets. It then becomes a 'Package' and all 'Package ' Rules apply
I agree, it is very doable

I don't think we would do hoppers, or we would add them if we needed them when we got there....we would do the water parks though (MY fave!!). I figure adding in driving down and everything would put us at about $3,500. I'd love it if they would offer free dining though.

another way to save money is to skip the park hopper and simply get regular tickets. We never use the park hopper as we find it hard to park hop with our girls. As others have said, it's very doable!

I think its totally doable!:goodvibes

yes it;s do-able,don't bother paying for a dining plan, just plan what you want to eat,and where, and it will cost you less....especially if you eat a lot of QS foods anyway...dining plan is WAY too expensive, and overrated.

Thanks for the tip! Without the dining plan it looks like I could get the room only plus get YES tickets for a total of about $1,700. Factor in food and driving costs and we should be at or under $3,000.

Depending how you eat and spend you could even look into renting points from a DVC member and staying deluxe. OKW would probably run you around $1200, AKV savanna view $1500ish.

I agree with this. Since your DD is 10, you would have to buy the adult dining plan for her but she might be satisfied with something off the kids menu. So the adult plan might be a real waste for her. You can look at menus here on the Dis or at allearsnet.com and get a feel for what it would cost you to just pay OOP for your meals.

Since you're driving down, I would recommend taking a cooler and some breakfast stuff so you can eat breakfast in the room before you head out for the day. We usually do this and also have some stuff on hand for snacks and easy meals like sandwiches and salads. We've also packed water bottles and fruit and crackers and such into a small backpack cooler and taken it into the parks with us. It was nice to be able to snack pretty much wherever/whenever we wanted with no waiting in line at a snack cart. And it saved us a good bit of money too.

Another moneysaver would be to sign up for the newsletter at mousesavers.com. You will get a link to a special price on park tickets from Undercover Tourist. They are very reliable - many folks on here have bought their tickets thru them. It isn't a huge savings but every little bit helps. And from what I understand, these can be programmed onto your room keys at check-in if you'd like.

I forgot about the adult meal plan for DD - she still eats off the kids meal. I know DH would like regular sandwiches and stuff for lunch instead of buying all the time. Having a car will help with that too.

POP is best bet with QSDP...but still have to include gas to get to Disney..that would put you a bit over..and souvenirs etc..all should be factored in..but its close have a great trip

I believe the Spring "room only" discount has to be booked by the end of Feb. We have done the regular (not quick service) dining plan in the past and now that my 2 older kids are "adults" I would not purchase the dining plan for them until they are better eaters. If you want to do a buffet (character) each day it might be worth it and I figure I would be paying for the entertainment. Ordering off the menu my kids are still happy with the kids' meals or would be able to share something.

We don't like to get the dining plan in the summer, it is just too stinkin hot to eat that much food and we sometimes even share something, and if you don't use the refillable mugs, then definitely skip it.

My DD12 and I split every meal. Disney gives you so much food, we are always satisfied. If you pay OOP for meals and are just doing the 2 adults (with maybe the occasional kids meal in there) then it will be less expensive. If you are not on the dining plan then they have no problem with you splitting food, even at table service (unless it's a buffet/character meal)

You could also take some breakfast groceries/drinks/snacks/water etc with you since you are driving, and have your breakfast in the room every day. We do this every time we go as well. We never buy water in the park, just take it with us from the room.

We never get the DDP for this reason, it just makes no financial sense for us - although I could see if you had a bunch of teen/adult big eaters it would. I think your trip is very doable with you driving for under $3k.

Wow you guys are great. I've always thrown around whether the dining plan is worth it or not and you guys have convinced me. DD and I would probably split a few meals and in the summer, you're right, we don't eat a ton.

IMHO, the dining plan USED to be worth it, now, it has gotten too expensive. Also, you tend to overeat when you are on it. We used to always get the dining plan, now, we just pay out of pocket, eat what we want and still save $$$
