Okay, I'm a Disneyland regular on my Year of Disney, but I've only stayed onsite once when I was with some friends. Before my pass expires, I want to stay onsite. I don't really have a hotel preference. I know all three have pros and cons, but I want it to be affordable (ha!). I'm just wondering how to get the best deal. I check the AP hotel rates and availability, but they only go about 2 months out. If I search, I just get the standard rates. We don't have set dates yet, but it'll be sometime this summer. Basically, I'm wanting to know how should I go about finding a good rate/availability. Keep checking the AP rates or search online or call? Anything I should say or do to get the best rate possible? Thanks!!

I was told by a CM they only have AP rates during the slower times of the year. I was looking for something April through August.

All you can do is book the lowest price possible right now and keep checking to see if the rate goes down. If it does, call and modify the reservation.

Good luck

Unless you are going during a time when you can participate in Dapper Days or Gay Days or some other convention you are affiliated with, then I'd say Geemo is right on the money - just book the best rate they have now and keep checking.

Of course there are third parties, like Costco where you might find a deal if you can just book hotel rather than a package.

Id' say affordable is an interesting word - I can easily afford to stay onsite, but I choose not to - some day maybe - but the prices seem to just keep going up and the quality down from everything I've read. If you go during a busier time though that extra hour would honestly be very nice!! Have fun.

If you use orbitz they generally have the whatever the rate is discounted to currently through the hotel and then you can use a 15% off, or even more if you get one. Also, be sure to go through a cash back site like ebates. That's always been the best deal I've seen. You can also buy points and stay at the GC with points. However, you probably need to do that several months out.
