Onsite DVC Tours?

BLT and SSR both have low dues. But SSR is literally the last resort to fill with reservations. I can't think of a single time of year where you couldn't book at the 7-month window. (I haven't checked, but there's a good chance you can even find availability at SSR for this coming week. It typically has that much space.). BLT, however, fills up, at least for the busy times of the year, so the 11-month advantage is important. It also has monorails, boats, and busses--and you can walk to the MK. SSR mainly has busses, though you can take the boat to DS. It seems a little pointless, as DS is right there, but it's an option.

First 2 weeks in December are usually the quickest rooms go. Finding a studio anywhere for a week is very hard to do. Even at SSR, OKW and AKV. The big 3.

There is no longer a discount for being referred by an existing member, per my guide this past weekend. However, the referring member still receives a dining credit.

Bumping this because I'm trying to search for this answer:

Did they officially stop this discount then?

I wanted to have an onsite tour in my upcoming trip and wasn't sure the order to do things: do I need to schedule the tour through a "referral" guide, or can I show up at a kiosk and they can look me up?

Is it obvious if I did the referral correctly? I got an automated email and a letter in the mail, but it's not clear I have an actual person assigned to me.

You don't have to use the referral guide if you don't want to, but it can make things easier. They can easily arrange transportation to pick you up anywhere on property for your tour for example. I haven't checked in with my guide since he told me the referral discount is gone over Summer, so I don't know if they've brought it back or not.
