Only going to have a car for partial stay ?...

Asking this question for my parents who are going to Orlando for house-hunting purposes. They are staying in WDW for the full 6 nights because they love that resort area so much and then later on they will also be going to the parks. They will be renting a car for the 1st 3 days and then returning it. How does this affect the parking charges? Are you charged for the entire length of your stay per night, or can they say that they are only having a car for 3 nights?

They should only be charged for the nights that they have the car. I would recommend they inform the front desk once they don't have the car any longer. There have been reports of guests incorrectly being charged for nights that they didn't have a car. WDW correctly refunded in these cases, but a trip to the front desk should eliminate that.

Since the parking rule is so new there are wide spread problems throughout Disney so like the pp stated make sure at check-in your parents
make it clear they will only have the rental for the first 3 days. With that they should do an old school check out and show up at the front desk
in person to clear up and issues before they leave.

That's not exactly what the plan advised.

Sure, tell the front desk when they check in that the car will only be there for three nights. But advise the resort again in person once the car is returned.
