Only able to get SDMT FP late in day

This morning was our 60 day FP day. I could only get SDMT for 5pm on our first MK day (60+2) and 2pm on our second (60+3). This sort of blows up our strategy of getting FPs 9-10, 10-11, and 11-12 to start picking up extra FP right after 11:00. My husband says we should ditch the 5pm SDMT and pick something else earlier, but I've had so many friends tell us the kids will want to do it both days. We're going during a super busy time so I'm already worried about standby lines for any attraction, but especially SDMT. I am hoping to modify it to earlier. I've been trying to modify since booking it this morning with no luck, but perhaps as our trip gets closer or even in the days before I will have more luck? Any suggestions?

I've found modifying is easier closer to the trip and even day-of. Personally, if you can't modify, I would just do 7DMT at RD both days and stick to the early morning FP+ strategy.

I'd just keep trying to modify for earlier, and if that ultimately doesn't work, just go there straight at RD. We arrived at the barriers on Main Street 5-10 minutes before park opening and were on and off 7DMT by 8:20 (8am park opening). 9am opening might not be quite as easy but if you get there at 8:30 or so you'll be fine to head straight there.

Modifying it now will be pretty much useless, unless you get very lucky. Try doing it the day before, or better yet, the morning of. You'll have a very high chance then.

And you are right, especially at the MK, to book your FP+ for 9-10, 10-11 and 11-12. You won't have a problem using 10-18 FP+ that day and walking laps around people in stand-by lines. It's such a great feeling. Much better to RD SDMT and not be tied down with that 5pm FP+.
