My parents are down at WDW for a quick trip for their 40th wedding anniversary at SOG. They usually prefer to eat at SOG while at WDW, for convenience and cost savings.

They arrived yesterday afternoon, and on the spur of the moment, decided to head over to the Poly to see if they could have dinner somewhere there. They have never eaten there, and really don't have any idea about ADR's or how hard it is to get some.

They had heard me rave about 'Ohana, and thought they would check it out.

I guess they went to the podium and were told that they could be put on a list for a table, but the wait would be 90 minutes. So, they got a drink at the bar and lo and behold, barely 15 minutes later were given a table! My Mom raved about the food and said she loved the bread pudding. Then she mentions that they had a table right next to the window and they got to watch Wishes while enjoying their dessert.

:lmao: After I picked my jaw up off the floor, I told her how lucky she was to get such a great table on short notice like that! DH and I had eaten there during our 2007 trip but it had taken a lot of calling to get ressies for the night and time we wanted.

Mom and Dad got some extra pixie dust without even knowing it!!!!! :wizard: I still think they think it's just another day of dining at Disney. :rotfl2:

Most places are pretty ready to help people out - after all the more people they seat, the more money they make. My mom lives in Clermont and often one of her friends will join us at the last minute for dinner - usually at 'Ohana now that I think of it :lmao: but they have always been able to add an extra person to our reservation. We always preface that they may not be able to, but they always have. If we called dining to make a proper reservation - they have always told us no way.

If you have time and alternate plans its always worth asking. Disney would much rather make money off of you then disappoint you if at all possible!

Hey fellow Buffalonian!

That is such a crazy story! Considering some people obsess over getting ADRs there and never get one, how lucky for them! A little bit of Disney magic :wizard:

How fantastic!!! They were sprinkled with pixie dust overload.....now the only problem is they'll think that happens all the time. LOL

But how wonderful for them. What a blessing to get in and get seated by the window, true love....God pays attention to it.

Talk about the granddaddy of beginners luck!!!!! WOW!!! I'm pea green with envy...

I think that's a wonderful story and after 40 years they deserve a lot of extra pixie dust.

That's great! I know if it was me, I would have asked for a table like that and we would've gotten one behind a wall next to the toilet.

That is Awesome how it worked out for them!!

And can I assume that one or both of them is a Veteran as they are at SOG??? Maybe that Pixie Dust was a big THANK YOU for the service to our country!!

What a great story! Ohana is way better than anything your going to find at SOG. Good for them!!

I wonder if it's easier to get a table for 2 at WDW than a larger party, even though there are less tables for 2? We seem to get what we want (2 people) although I still make ADR's because I don't like to take chances.

I know they will often ask for a party of 2 at some attractions too - to fill in. That's happened to us a few times, the people we have to walk by usually aren't too thrilled but I'm always surprised there aren't more parties of 2 in front of us in line. The CM's will start at the front asking for a party for 2 and I'll think: "There's no way they'll get to us, there must be other parties of 2 ahead of us. But no, they keep asking until they get to us." Disney is more of a family destination and I think the amount of couples compared to 3 or more is probably a minority.

Hiya! :yay:

I have a friend going down to WDW in 4 weeks....when I called her and told her this story, she about flipped her lid because she's been trying to get Coral Reef and 'Ohana ADR's for ages and they are booked solid for her dates! So, that was very lucky indeed! ;)

Yep, my Dad is a 25 year Veteran of the Army reserves! He retired as a Colonel.
