only???13 more sails till sept 14 wonder??

I think our flight is scheduled to land at 10:20 or so, then we are taking a town car to the port. We could do a grocery stop for Mikes if we have to for Dale.:p

6 more sails and we are there!

Steve

We're at the Hyatt the night before, and have a private van picking us up at 9:00 a.m. Sounded a little early to us, but maybe the sooner we get there, the sooner we can get all the details taken care of.
I can't believe it's only 3 weeks. Starting to get nervous now.

We'll be flying in the night before (from Portland, OR), picking up a rental car and driving to Radisson at the Port. Will leave the car at the hotel. After the trip, we'll be at WDW for 5 nights. Can't wait - I used to work at Disneyland in high school, so this is my first time visiting WDW! Whoo-hoo!

We are spending several days at the World before our cruise so we will be arriving whenever the bus from the Polynesian gets us there! (I think around 1:00)
:D

OK, my son just left for college I have time to get back to the boards now. We took his stuff up on Sunday, but he came back to have his wisdom teeth pulled. I guess there's no need to be too sad, he's coming home for Labor Day Weekend (already)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Jill we're staying at the Radisson also. We should be there sometime early in the afternoon. Weather permitting we will be down by the pool. We'll be the loud group (12 adults and my 9 yo DD). Another poster Susan will also be there with her 7 girlfriends. The other Gail (newbycruiser) and her DH and DD will be staying there too!
Where are you staying at WDW? We are going back to WDW for 3 days and are staying at Old Key West.

Stacey how nervous is your daughter getting?

Gail does your daughter still want to try out the kids clubs? I will probably sign Deanna up after we get done with lunch. She tells me now that she plans to be there all the time, but that just might change when she finally realizes all her aunts will be there too. Also, I think the ABC does carry Mike's - they have just about everything.

huckster keep the countdowns going for us!!!!!

Steve and Dale will you be able to buy alcohol on Sunday before boarding the ship?

Gail

yep, I still plan on signing her up right after lunch, we might try to go for a quick dip in the Mickey Pool if it;'s not too crowded yet.

We are staying at the Radisson like Gail said, maybe we'll see you all there, our plane doesn't get into Orlando until 6:30, so until we drive, eat and buy Mike's hard lemonade...

Can we do Blue Lagoon on our own? Still haven't signed up for anything, i just don't want to feel tired and rushed on our first cruise, maybe the next one we'll venture out somewhere. I just want the option of being able to do something.

Gail (newbycruiser) soon NOT to be newbycrusier!!!

To the 2 Gails and the rest of the Radisson folks - we'll probably just be arriving as all of you folks go to bed (or maybe not - depending on the pool party :o). Our flights don't get in until 8ish at night, and I planned to do the grocery store run, too.

Our stay at WDW will be at the Radisson Resort Parkway - is Old Key West nearby? My absolute must is Tower of Terror...

People were talking about rum and cigars...DH is particularly fond of the cigars. Any tips on where to buy good ones in Nassau?

I'm hoping 4 yo DD is going to like the kids clubs, but I'm fully prepared for her to be hanging out with us (she's a shy one).

My goals on this first cruise:
- Eating
- Palo's
- Pirates of the Caribbean movie
- Eating
- Bingo (at least once)
- See as much of the ship as possible
- Swimming on the beach at Castaway Cay
- Eating

As most of my goals are food-oriented, I'm trying to do Winsor Pilates beforehand to combat it upfront. Unfortunately, it's a losing battle. I'm ready to throw in the towel and dig in the buffets!

I don't know how to do that countdown clock, so I'm looking at all of yours! Can't Wait!
:bounce:

Those are MY goals on the ship too! I tried to Winsor Pilates, but I coudln't do anything with DD home all summer. School starts on Tuesday, so I can at least get 3 weeks in... sigh...

Jill I like your goals for the cruise........Eating!!!!! We already went to see Pirates of the Caribbean (great movie - Johnny Depp is HOT!!!!!) We're holding out to see Freaky Friday.

Old Key West is on site - down the street and around the corner from Downtown Disney. I'm looking forward to Tower of Terror and Rockn Rollercoaster & Chef Mickey's too!!!!!

You should be to the Radisson around 10ish even with the grocery stop. We will definately still be up!!!!!!!! Please look for us!!!!

Gail with it being September I don't think the excursions will be sold out. If we were cruising in the summer or during a holiday, you might run the risk of an excursion being full. After you board you can always go to Guest Services and see about booking something. Even if you don't do any excursions, I'm sure you will be able to find plenty of stuff to do.

Gail

What is Winsor Pilates??? Is it strenuous......Do I have to put down my Snickers bar to do it?????????

Gail

check out www.winsorpilates.com

it's tough, real tough...

Snickers don't cut it, babe...

We are also waiting for Freaky Friday (and I'm wanting to see pirates of the Carribean) my students can't decide who's hotter, Orlando Bloom or Johnny Depp. I vote for Johnny!

I already went shopping and bought some post-cruise clothes, Old Navy below the waist stretch jeans!

Gail (#1Mouse)...no, Megan does not seem to be getting nervous yet, but I am. She just says she wants more time to lose weight. I had been going to Curves, but got sidelined by my surgery. I was released Monday to upper body work only, can't do lower for two more weeks. Oh well. Porky I will be.

Gail (Soon-to-be-not-so-newby)...I like your post-cruise clothing idea!!! Wish I'd kept some maternity pants! :p

Stacey

Jill , I usually buy mine before I go , have had some bad experiences with tobacco from the stores in town.

Thompsons Cigars has some good value and they come right to the house. Have him check out there web site

I will probably bring enough rum for Sunday with us and then buy more on mon in Nassau. remember to buy a couple SMALL bottles because if you open it you can not take it off the boat in Fla.

Steve

Steve - thanks for the cigar tip. Wasn't sure on the cigar situation in Nassau, so I'll let DH know to bring some with him. I'll check out that website.

Gail - I would love to see Freaky Friday, too! Heard all the good reviews, so hopefully it'll be on the ship.

huckster - appreciate you starting this thread! It's nice to meet people before we even make it on the ship!

Stacey - you're almost there! Good luck with the nail polish ;) . I can identify with your daughter wanting more time to get in shape, but as long as she can zip up the wedding dress, she's good to go!

I now realize that with all the anticipation before the cruise, it'll probably take me just as long to get over it, huh? I'm anticipating major withdrawals. I guess that's when you book your second cruise! As my DFIL says, we always need something to look forward to!

I totally agree! We have been waiting SOO long for this trip, and now it's almost here. I have been so focused on SEPTEMBER that I will not know what to do with myself when we get home.
We do plan on booking on board for Nov. 04 so hopefully that will help :D But it is going to be a loooong wait!

Athene,

Booking on board sounds great...I'm hoping the family will love it so much that we do it then and there. I'd love to try a 7-nighter next. The only problem is I'm not sure how next year is looking, so it may be a little chancy for us. DH has his own business so he's starting to travel a lot more.

We booked in January, so like you, I just focused on September all year. Too much daydreaming for me. But, it's almost here! I think I need to do one of those advent-style calendars, so I can cross off the days. I keep picturing us in the terminal, waiting to get on and start the adventure...what a great feeling!

Oh my goodness - 3 weeks from today I'm spending the night at PDX, so we can fly out the next morning (better parking deal)! It's coming quicker than we think! (but still, not quick enough, huh?)

Sounds like you will need a vacation.

Steve

Now where are those hurricane forecasts hmmmmmmmm...........

:p :p :p

:earseek: Hurricanes! Bite your tongue, Steve.

Tammy, you guys have not had a good summer...didn't you get stuck in the power outage, too? You should move to Arizona...no bad weather here...of course, we still have no gasoline, either, but hey, it's a dry heat! (I know that doesn't fit in there, but it's what everyone says about Arizona, so I thought I'd throw it in).
DFIL had a couple more small strokes this week, and yesterday while I was there he had a big one and lost conciousness for about 2 hours. He came around, and is awake, but very weak. We meet with Hospice care tomorrow. His kidneys are now failing, they say about 3 weeks. After I got home, I stayed up till 2:00 a.m. getting another floral arrangement done. One more to go!! Then I will try to pack it all. I'm pooped.
We have decided that of course, the wedding will go on. Dad would want it to. He has surprised us a lot so far, he may just hang in there for a long time to come!
Anyway, hope your weather clears up soon Tammy.
We only want a hurricane if it means we get to stay on the ship longer!!! :)

Stace. you are gonna be so tired when you finally get to relax will have to keep you awake!

we also had hospice for FIL they were very nice and tended to family members also..
Steve,
"Hurricane "does that mean we can stay on the island longer while it passes?? hhmmmmmmmmmm
this could be good!!!

ya know what tommorrow is ?? Sunday!! i fill ya in Sunday ... and tell ya the details!! gotta go to work!!
