We'll be leaving for AKV in 12 days, arriving in 13!!! WHEW!!! Will it EVER get here????

So should I do online checkin?? Is there a benifit, or will you do better waiting till you get there?? Is there any disadvantage??? :confused3

I usually check in , in person. I guess I like to be face to face and make sure they know my requests if I have any (I think with online the room s pre selected).

In may we will be arriving really late to BWV so I think I will do the online check in because it will go faster and hopefully we will not get a room to far from the action that way.

That's part of our problem too, we probably won't arrive till 5pm at the EARLIEST!!!!

I heard that sometimes your room is ready early if you do online check-in because they know when to expect your arrival. But it doesn't sound like this will benefit you since you're arriving at 5pm.

There's a possibility we might not arrive until around midnight for our tip in August...would it be best to do online check-in for such a super late arrival? I've never done it before...staying in dedicated 2br, LV, BLT, if that helps.

I thought I would get more response here!! Hmmmmmmmmm :confused3

Anyway, since we are getting there late after a LONG drive I think I'll do online check-in so I can get done faster when I arrive and I'm not wasting time checking in when I get there!!

We found no advantages to online check-in over regular check-in. In fact the last Christmas when we arrived there was a long line at on-line check-in and no line at the regular check-in. We walked right up, the CM punched the info into the workstation and handed us our "Welcome Home" folder. Plus the room was ready. The one time we used on-line check-in it was a total fiasco.

I did online check in for our split stay at VWL and AKV Jambo in December. I had made my requests with member services earlier, i.e. at VWL I asked for
4th floor pool view and I that's what I got. I don't remember if I had any requests for AKV. Both checkins were smooth, no problems and I would definately do online checkin again, especially if I was coming in late. That's just my 2 cents worth. :goodvibes

We arrived around 2:00 in the afternoon the day before Easter this year. We did not do on-line check-in. There was nobody in line, either regular or on-line check-in. Spent a very short time at the counter and our room was ready and requests were all met.

We didn't do on-line check-in in 2009 for our stay at the Contemporary and had an identical experience.

Why?? What happened that time??? :confused3

First, the room location was the polar opposite of our request.

The room wasn't ready (not that big of a deal)

We were told the room was almost ready and they would contact us on our cell phone in about an hour. Since we had a dinner reservation it would have been nice to have an opportunity to get freshened up a bit but, alas, that didn't happen. They didn't call. When we called they didn't answer. Finally, 6 hours later, at 8 pm, we finally got through via cell and they told us the room was ready. We asked if they tried to call. They said "No."

The trips since we have used the old fashioned check-in. Each time the room requests were honored and the rooms were ready. Check-in was a breeze because everyone else was waiting in the on-line check-in pick up line. There was no one in the regular check-in line besides us.

After reading the rest of the posts I wonder if you just caught them at a real bad time!! Every hotel, resort or park is going to have a bad day at some point!! Maybe you just got unlucky enough to catch them on that day!!

Sorry it was so bad!!!

Thanks you ALL for the input!!! :worship::worship::worship::worship:

That's an understatement.

Ten years of DVC and this is the only blemish we've ever experienced. For us dealing with a human being has been the most reliable for us. The one positive of online check-in is that the regular check-in lines are now a lot shorter and much quicker.

Thanks you ALL for the input!!! :worship::worship::worship::worship:

Your welcome. Best of Luck and :welcome:HOME!!

Did online check in on our last trip. Split stay between AKL and OKW. For AKL we arrived around 8:00 pm, so there was no specific on-line check in line. Room was ready and check in was fast.

At OKW drove over early (around 7:30 am), and checked in. The room wasn't ready, but they did tell me the room number so I knew our requests had been met. Also gave me the room cards. Left a text number and went to AKL to check out and spent the day at Typhoon Lagoon. Room was ready around 3 so we headed over (after quick grocery/drinks stop) and we were enjoying margaritas on the balcony by 4:30.

Today was our 10 day mark and I went back & forth about doing or not doing online check-in. Well, I decided to go ahead and do it and then I called MS to check on what I had requested at the time of booking (forgot). I was able to add that we did not want a HA villa since we are traveling with a toddler. Keeping my fingers crossed that all goes well.

Have a great time on your vacation!:wizard:

Looks like we'll be there at the same time!! I went ahead and did online check-in and figured if I don't have a good experience then I won't next time!!

Maybe we'll see you there!!! And if not you have a great time too!!! :thumbsup2

David
