We will be checking into SSR this weekend and wondering what the benefits of online check-in are? We did request a specific area, would online check-in guarantee it more than doing the check-in in person? Wondering what your experiences have been, positive or negative? Thanks!

We have used it for our past 4 trips. We have had our room ready twice/ not ready twice. When we put in request with reservations for the one, it was "sort of" granted. At the THV's we requested 7030, and got 7039, which is fairly far away from it.

We have used it maybe 8 times since it was made available and we don't see the benefit. We never really have a long wait at the Front Desk and many times we waited longer because we were in the online check in line. Room ready isn't any earlier and I think that it has made our request success worse.

One the other hand, it benefits Disney because they can make the check in packets and room keys the night before. It also reduces the number of check ins taking up the Front Desk CM's time negotiating for a better room location.

We've used it twice. Once it cut down our check in time at POP, we flew. The next time we watched all the regular check ins for a good 10min before anyone came to the online check in counter. It upset me, but they did have only 1 online counter open & 3 regular. The requested room can be changed whether it's online or not.
I'm assuming as more people use it Disney will support it better.

We've only used it once, & that was for our trip this past June.

It didn't help us. When we arrived at BCV front desk at 10:30am, they couldn't find our packet anywhere. We spent about 20 minutes at the front desk while they went thru a lot of computer stuff, looking thru paperwork, & even going into the back room. The two CM at the front desk kept apologizing for the delay & telling us how much they appreciated our patience. DH & I just stood their quietly telling them, "No problem" & happily chatting with the CM. (The wait didn't matter to us at all. We had checked out of AKV & we wearing our swimsuits, poolbag in hand. All we were planning to do for the day was hang out at SAB while we waited for our room to be ready).

When the CM did finally have everything ready, they handed us our keys & told us our room (2BR) was ready! - And it was a fantastic room! We have never had a room ready before 1pm or 2pm. I was convinced then, & still am, that they assigned us a room that was ready because of how pleasant DH, the kids, & I were during our 20 min. wait at the desk.

Since we often have guests with us, I don't use on line check in for those trips because there's no way to indicate who you want to have charging privileges. When that's not an issue, I do use on line checkin. I have not noticed a benefit that I gain by using on line checkin, nothing has consistently been better when I do.

I have used it twice, and both times got the exact requests for rooms. Once the room was ready, once it wasn't - doesn't really matter if you check-in online or not as it depends on if it was occupied and if it has been cleaned before you arrive.
I am using it this trip for sure because we will be travelling and away from any computers for 3 days before our arrival.

We tried it for checkin this Monday. Did the on-line late Sunday evening. When we got to the resort, they had no record of on-line checkin, even though we had the printed confirmation. Lot's of scurrying into the back room and then apologies for a "glitch" in the system. Bottom line- it didn't work for us.
