Online Check-In Question

We've never done online check-in and this trip is out first time staying at CSR. Since it's such a big resort, I wanted a room near one of the bus stops, and we had a few other location preferences. If we do online check-in, can we still make location requests, or do they pre-assign a room that you're stuck with?
 
For any reservation, you need to put your requests on your reservation itself, either when you make it or by having it added to your reservation later (by phone). The resorts don't accept faxes anymore and there is no place on the online check-in to put location requests. Even if you do online check-in if you are not happy with the room you're assigned, you can get it changed, you'll just have to wait in the regular check-in line, which kind of defeats the purpose of the speedy online check-in.

I didn't mean putting the request on the online check-in form, but I was wondering if the room is pre-assigned that way, or if the CM can still assign our room when we pick up the packet. Last year we stayed at POP and didn't make any requests on the reservation, but they were able to handle a pretty general request when we checked in, and even asked if we had a preferred area.

As the prior poster indicated, you do need to call ahead of time to have your requests added to your ressie. Your room will have been assigned to you before your arrival, so that your packet is ready for speedy pick-up, when you do the on-line check in. I've been fairly successful with my requests over the years, having added them to my ressie via phone. That said, requests are just that, requests, and even having them added to your ressie does not guarantee them. So, if you're doing on-line check in, DO make your requests ahead of time. Not fair to others behind you to save your requests for your time at the counter, slowing down the process. (Doesn't mean that if you don't get your requests, that you can't then ask for them to check for availability then and there.)
 

The room is pre-assigned. Everything is already printed out and waiting for you.
 
OP - my apologies for jumping into your question, but I have a related question, please...

If you do online check-in, do you find out the room assignment right then by the magic of the computer, or do you have to wait to know the number when you pick up your packet?

You find out your room number when you go to pick up your packet :)
 
Even if you do online checkin your room can be changed no problem. I always stay at CSR and always do online checkin... last 2 trips none of my requests were honored so I just politely asked if I could be switched and was within a few minutes.:goodvibes
