We are less than 3 weeks out and so I wanted to do online checkin and see what requests I could make. on my phone, the option does not exist and when I try to check in I get an error message. On the computer, the drop down menu for requests won't work. Anyone else having issues?

Also, do I need to do anything to enable charging to the room with our magic bands?

Room requests during online check-in have been blank for quite some time now (a year or more).

To enable room charging, you need to add a CC and establish a PIN for everyone (if necessary).

The check in function itself had been broken for weeks. Everytime I tried I would get Goofy and an error message. I check in in w weeks and by some miracle got it to work last Thursday.

The room request feature has. Been broken for a year or so.

Keep trying to check in and you may get lucky and get through. Or you may have to do it the old fashioned way.

Good grief, how is this acceptable?

So to make a room request does that mean I need to call?

The room request section has not saved requests in over a year and has not had a drop down at all in several months.
Theory is Disney is phasing it out due to upset guests when they don't get what they requested.
Wish they would just remove the feature so there was not daily confusion about it being broken.
Maybe we need a sticky on this or something because a new thread pops up about it at least every other day.
You can still call in a room request but just know its only a request.

In order to charge using your magic band you must be staying onsite and have your credit card and magic band linked to your MDE account.

I posted something about making this a sticky months ago. At least one post about this very topic every day .

I couldn't do an advance check-in for several weeks; I'd get to the screen for advance check-in, filled in the info for phone, etc., and when I was done, got an error message. I tried everything--clearing cache, cookies, etc...didn't help. Finally called, only to be told that yep, the problem is on their end but she couldn't help me--only said to check back in a few days to see if their error was cleared up. Waited about 5 days, and nope, still couldn't do the check-in, and was told I couldn't do that over the phone. (Additionally, I got a "your profile has recently been changed" email every time I tried to check in. That was weird.)

Finally, in frustration I called again, and was put through to a person in tech. What she had me do was to first go into Chrome (I have a Mac), then to bring up an incognito page. After that, I checked into my Disney account, and went through the whole rigamarole yet again. But THIS time, instead of getting the error, I was able to finally do the advance check-in.

I asked why it took doing the incognito page to get through, and her short answer was that the Disney site had to re-set my profile information. Going through an incognito page meant that essentially (the way I understood it) if somehow my profile information is changed or I try to log in with incorrect information, their site will keep re-reading the incorrect info until a private/incognito page logs in with the right info. Please don't as me to explain further, as I am a tech boob and I don't really understand the magic behind all that lol. I just know it worked, and I was really relieved that we wouldn't have to park our camper go into the Outpost when we arrive at Ft. Wilderness lol.

Hope this helps :-)

Got checked in for my one night room only at POP, but could NOT get checked in for my package at AKL. I had exactly what happened to @BarbLynnM happen to me... Goofy, then and email telling my my profile is changed. Grrrr...Guess I'll just keep trying.

I tried the incognito page and still couldn’t do the online check in! How frustrating.
(Thanks for the suggestion though)

TOTAL agreement. WDW has a "Grade C" Website - no change control, poorly managed, and no real CIO fixing the issue.

Now, sounds like a gripe. Nope, just reality. "CALL" is a very practical, REAL alternative - it will actually get you where you need to go.
One day, The WDW Website will be as good as Amazon.com. Today is not that day :(.
Its disgraceful that an organization like Disney cant manage to have a website that actually works properly! For YEARS i've had problems with booking ADRs and online checkin, as well as requesting a room. Years!

I will add one note though OP....when you call to make your request, the person answering the phone isn't always knowledgeable about which rooms are preferred and which aren't. I had to educate one of the CM I had spoken to. She told me that all of 50's, 60's, and 70's at Pop were preferred. EVERY room in those buildings. Ummmm, no honey they're not. o_O

I was able to check in online yesterday at the 60-day mark (assuming that is still the limit). At first, I too got the Goofy brush-off and then the bizarre email about my profile being "changed." But the next try appeared to pay off; I logged in a little later and the site claimed it had my check-in details. No confirmation email arrived, however, which bugged me a little. I am going to AK EMH first thing and wanted to make sure that my resort booking, and thus my AK free parking, would scan on my MagicBand. Maybe I'll find out the hard way. :badpc:
