Online Check in but not going to room till next day

I have a trip planned using my points but an option came up to spend our first night at a Universal hotel (we had planned on spending our first full day there before the rest of the week at the Disney parks). Is there any reason it wouldn't be ok to do online check in for our Sunday arrival but never actually go to the room until later on Monday?
I am using soon to be expiring points so I am not worried about spending them on a room we won't use one night.

You should add "late check in" to your reservation just to make sure that they show your room as occupied.
